[Flame set] #229 Ball Night

I don't have a scan of this yet, but it is a text-based puzzle.

The same night the Receda Cube was stolen, the annual Academy Ball was held. During the ball, each of the five events occurred in a different place, featured its own speaker, took a different amount of time, and was sponsored by a different Senior Fellow. Can you decipher everything that happened that night, and in which order?

1. The art and social sciences senior fellows sponsored the last two events.
2. Sente gave the welcoming words personally in Carrick Hall.
3. The fireworks were not the third event.
4. Prof. Wildwood did not sponsor the event where Sente spoke.
5. The first event was longer than the second.
6. Prof. Adamek left during the event in the Noi Ballroom.
7. The fireworks took a quarter of the time as the event where Camryn Scott spoke.
8. The second event was in Kermeen Hall.
9. Aiko Entrescore was careful to thank Prof. Ekeba when she spoke.
10. The outdoor event was the shortest.
11. The event in the Museum took three times as long as the shortest event, and twice as long as the second-shortest.
12. The senior fellow of cryptography was jealous that the second event took ten minutes less than Sedgewick's did.
13. Anna Heath gave a quick few words for the 20-minute event, then hurried home before the dancing.
14. Robert Zhi-Hui arrived to speak at the awards too late for cocktails, but did stay for the art exhibit.

The card is signed Sente. There are some large letter bits but I can't see a playing card symbol.

Should be a symbol on this one.

Anyone else have this and confirm no playing card symbol?

Here's the solve as I have it...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
First, Aiko Entrescope spoke at the museum for 60 minutes during the cocktail event, sponsored by Ekeba.

Second, Robert Zhi-hui spoke at Kermeen Hall for 30 minutes during the art exhibit event, sponsored by Mansoor.

Third, Sente spoke at Carrick Hall for 40 minutes during the welcome event, sponsored by Sedgwick.

Fourth, Anna Heath spoke outdoors for 20 minutes during the fireworks event, sponsored by Adamek.

Fifth, Camryn Scott spoke in the Noi Ballroom for 80 minutes during the dance event, sponsored by Wildwood.

Please double-check, but after doing one of those cross-hatch elimination things (like in elementary school!) I'm pretty confident of the results.

It doesn't work, but I don't know what's wrong. By welcome event do you mean the awards? Also does Adamek leaving during the Noi Ballroom event mean that he sponsored it, or not?

I dont get that at all - for instance I don't have a 'Welcoming Event' in my list - but I don't have the card so I'm not sure. I have:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

First: Sedgewick sponsored Cocktails, with Sente in the Carrick for 40 mins
Second: Mansoor sponsored Awards, with Zhi Hui in the Kermeen for 30 mins
Third: Ekeba sponsored an Art Exhibit, with Entrescore in the Museum for 60 mins
Fourth: Adamek sponsored Fireworks, with Heath Outdoors for 20 mins
Finally: Wildwood sponsored Dancing with Scott in the Ballroom for 80 mins

Can someone with the card check that please?

There's currently a problem with the card in the database, so it's not possible to solve it yet. I emailed them yesterday about this, and they're fixing it.

I can't see a playing card symbol, but maybe my eyes suck. I'm going to get a magnifyer onto it at some point and see if it helps.

also, to hamato, there is no "welcome event" there is an "awards event" and Robert Zhi-Hui spoke at it, so he didn't speak at the art exhibition.

ahdok, see if you can find a 2 of Hearts on it, thats what it should be by my reasoning.

Nope, I really really can't see anything on it, even in very good light looking very carefully. even on the back. It should have one on it, so maybe it's printed really close to the colour. Even worse than on sphinx. I'll go give it to Garath, see if he can see anything.

Edit: yeah, I even looked on the back.

What about a star? Maybe this card and #233 Earth's Destiny are the Jokers.

Exactly what I was thinking, a star or any sort of joker-like-symbol?

I still can't see any symbols on either this card or 233.

The answer screen doesn't require you to say what order the events were in, oddly. The speakers are fixed (Aiko, Anna, Camryn, Robert, Sente) and for each it asks for event, duration, sponsor, location, so it would be helpful if you set out your suggestions that way!

Chimera's solution didn't work, but maybe the problem hasn't been fixed yet.

I agree that chimera's solution could be correct and am sure I have tried it but am currently locked out (maybe it was broken when I tried?).
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
However, could also see that Aiko may have gone first and Sente 3rd, the only evidence for Sente going first was the word welcome? Also the positions of adamek and wildwood hinge on the clue about adamek leaving the ballroom event but that means he could have been at it sponsoring it or stayed on for part of it after his event? Probably missing something here because it seems a bit easy for a silver (apart from the fact it's broken and so unsolvable!)
