Hmm. Bold and impetuous.

Coming to the game a little late, damn those bank holiday engineering works starting a day early, I see I've arrived just in time to save us all from certain doom by the use of the so-called "Marmalade" play, first pioneered by Mr and Mrs Brown in the Peruvian championchips of 1945.

Therefore: PADDINGTON!

Paddington eh? The MC equivalent of a kick to the nadgers - swift and painful. I think it'll have to be an Overland Scurry next. Next stop - SHEPHERD'S BUSH.

No, no my boy. You may not be aware of this, but you left yourself open to a famous American play. Washington's Crossing.

CHARING CROSS

Yes, you may laugh at your chance to play Charing Cross, but you may not be aware of the move created especially because of the movie Creep, set in Charing Cross.
I call the Lanky Monster Switcher, and change from the bakerloo line to the Northern Line.
Unfortunately, due to the effects of the Kyoto Nakai Shoji, as played by ChalcoDoror, I am forced to take the alternate Northern Line, so I move to
KENTISH TOWN.

Oho! An interesting move, that!

However, you leave yourself open for the Torchwood Gambit, which involves me directing a squad of UNIT troops to block off the line while the Doctor, Rose Tyler, and Mickey The Idiot muck around with an alien device planted at . . .

DOLLIS HILL!

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh no not the Dollis Hill Loop Rule- eeeek!
You leave me no option but to envoke Nelson's Charge, a rule named after Lord Nelson, shame he never got to play...

WHITE CITY

I hope someone can get out of the DOLLIS HILL LOOP

I may aswell state it now...

DOLLIS HILL

Mac, the loop's broken by the Beauchamp Trefoil remember? Time to ratchet things up a gear with a move I like to call the Hammersmith & Pity, bitches.

ALDGATE. (But for the newbies, notice that the Bank branch of the Northern Line is now stacked a little fast and top-heavy for a crafty switch.)

But of course, using Patterson's Park Perambulation in conjunction with the left-over-right-and-under rule (twice repealed and reinstated during the sixties after rioting followed the '58 championships and banned during times of national emergency), and finally allowing for the acceptable risk posed by Theakston and Morder's {outlandish} carriage consideration my move will be to

MILE END

(thus neatly avoiding both the 'Felling of the Royal Oak' and Fullier's Deception - a very neatly laid trap though!)

Since it's early morning Friday now in the UK, I'll use the Clown Turn-about. Not the best play, but I'm rather sleepy.

Oh dear, I had forgot about that.

No matter, I'll just play the Fujiwara Inverse Drift Maneuver (popularized by Takumi "Tak" Fujiwara in the 2004 Mornington Crescent Japanese National Championship, which was held at Todoh Racing School that year), and go with . . .

Baker Street!

By the by, the Fujiwara Inverse Drift Maneuver neutralizes the Beauchamp Trefoil. Just thought you might like to know that.

Ohhhh hohoho

That sets me up nicely for a Hot Cross Bun Baker's Street Timeshift

and we hop right over to the New York Metro

HARLEM

Mwahahah!

Well it appears I could only have played that rule because of the Heinnrich-Stobbard match of 2001. I think it might take quite alot to get back to MC from here!

Which sets me up for my signature move, the Subway-To-Overground Switcheroo!

From Harlem, we go to Grand Central Terminal, and from there (by way of the Hudson Line) to . . .

POUGHKEEPSIE!

(By the way, the Subway-to-Overground Switcheroo allows the use of surface railway stations, so long as they have one nexus in common with the underground system of the given city - in this case, the common nexus is Grand Central Terminal.)

not Harlem 125th street

Quick question - I understand that you moved to the New York subway- underground- metro (MTA) station. But there is no stop on the subway line called Harlem. I think you mean 125th street? The subway stop at 125th and Lexington is called 125th street.

One block over from of the subway stop is the "above-ground" train --Metro-North-- that has a stop called Harlem- 125th street.

If I follow your rules correctly(and, are you just making these up because they are quite entertaining) this slight error doesn't affect the outcome of the latest station played by Macavity. The subway (MTA) trains and the above-ground (Metro-North) trains do directly connect in the hub at Grand Central - but honestly, most people would just walk the short block from the subway to the train station. Going back to Grand Central wouldn't make sense to an actual commuter.

But why Poughkeepsie of all places?

*I was going to ask if hints or suggestions are allowed, but I think that the players can happily look over the relevant schedules themselves without any coaching from the peanut gallery.

I'm sorry it looks like my rulebok is out of date- or there is a misprint. It clearly states here that Harlem is an underground station- stupid book. Thanks for pointing that out Rose, though like you said it didnt affect Macavity's move Smile
