[NEW?] - The Legend of Simon Conjurer

Anyone seen this? It was featured tonight on Vh1's "Best Week Ever." I feel like this has ARG all over it, maybe I'm wrong, though. Anyway, sure looks like a funny movie.

Although I'm new to the ARG world, stuff like the random capitalization etc clued me in that this might me ARG territory. I don't have time to look at it right now, but what do you guys think?

First impression was that you were right, but looking into it further its a genuine movie promotion - doesn't mean its not got a ARG attached though.
Must say, for a commercial output, the fact the book advertised changes its name randomly from 'Prophet without a God' to 'Profit without a God' seems a bit peculiar.

Has fun bits to it to explore if you're into that.

Yeah it's definitely a real movie, I figured there was some type of promotional game going along with it, not sure though. There's quite a lot of background info on the characters etc, but I'm not sure if this is just supposed to be quirky fun or if there's something ARGish going on.

Check out the Poster and who it says is the writer and director.

Hmmmm.....

Is it just me or does this NOT seem like a movie that Jon Voight would actually do? It looks like a "straight to video" production.

Also, if you CTRL+A the home page, you will see the following letters light up: dsf, dsf, sdf (seen in the source code as:

Quote:
<td><p>dsf</p>
<p>dsf</p>
<p>sdf</p>
</td>
)

Edit: After furthur review, it appears as some pages have the strange letters, but, while they have been put in there on purpose, the purpose for them alludes me.

Edit2: It seems like Jon Voight did do this movie:

Quote:
Conjuring up a mystery
When Jon Voight called me out of the blue the other day – explaining that he might "have a few projects I want to talk to you about" – I thought he'd drop a bombshell about his estranged daughter, Angelina Jolie, and the grandchild she's carrying. No such luck.

"I don't want to say anything about that, because it would just complicate my life," the 67-year-old Voight told me when I asked if he expects to meet the baby. "All I say is that I love Angie, and I'm always wishing the very best for her."

Turns out Angie's dad really wanted to discuss his projects. Notably "The Legend of Simon Conjurer," an indie movie scheduled to open late next month – in which he plays a demented psychologist named Dr. Crazx.

"It's a movie about 10 dysfunctional people on a journey," Voight said. "It was written and directed by a friend of mine who refuses to allow his name to be used."

And who precisely is this Anonymous? Could it be Jon Voight? "It's a great mystery," he said with a laugh. And not a bad marketing gimmick.

I emailed the apparent designer of the site, Jeff Powers, his website is here:

http://www.ashoutinthestreet.com/

Most of the stuff on it seems to be related to Simon Conjurer. I just said I was looking forward to the film and asked what was up with the source code. Still waiting for a reply.

If you go to the movie's imdb page, there is quite a lot of talk about this film:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0758763/board/threads/

Many of the people seem to be shilling for the movie, and they're being called on it, but the people calling them shills also have no other posts on imdb, so they might also be part of the media campaign? Apparently there was some sort of dustup/strike during the production etc. It's supposedly directed by a "Stuart Paul," but I can't find anything out about him.

The more and more I read, the more this seems like it has some sort of ARG element.

Apparently the movie is being distiributed by Crystal Sky Worldwide - they're a real company and it looks like they've put out some really terrible films. They make no mention of Simon Conjurer on their website, though.

Here's a Stuart Paul on imdb. On the Crystal Sky executive bio page, it actually mentions that Stuart Paul is Steven Paul's brother:
Quote:
New York natives, Hank and Dorothy Paul are the parents of three successful entertainment industry entrepreneurs including Steven Paul, President & CEO of Crystal Sky, Bonnie Paul, successful actress, and Stuart Paul, accomplished writer and director. Hank and Dorothy's children are strong testimonies to their love for one another, which is reflected in their marriage of 52 years.

Here's Stuart's imdb page:
