The Wikipedia article about the sites is nice, and it points out some fan made sites that copy these sites in their sort of "This is not a TV spinoff site" website way.
Oooog, i can't wati for the next season to arrive here in Canada!

Episode 1 2006.
Not going to print any spoilers here but It was fun. Looks even better then 2005 but has still some of the authentic clumsyness from years ago. Sounds putdownish but thats what makes Dr. Who so special and unlike the slick us-sci-fi.

Doh, i completely forgot to take note of the buttons on his jacket.... The radio times had a big special on the new series, Rather bizzarely there was a short article on his suit mentioning that his jacket had an "unusual" number of buttons, and that the production staff where consulted for each episode for the pattern of buttons done up. The comments seemed rather bizzare and overly emphasised (the whole article was in bold amongst other things) it might be nothing, or it might be some subtle hint.

The Face of Boe is back (and left) He promisses a major secret he will reveal to the Docor the third time (and last time) they meet. My guess is that will be it. If not the secret then the suspence of what it could be... after all a creature millions of years old would be ridiculous, isn't it?

awww, i love the face of boe!
I just downloaded it {thank goddess for limewire} but have not watched it yet. Read a brief description though.
I really cannot wait for the DVDs, although I do find it oh so funny that {at least here in the US} the dvd is set as the "first season"... I was under the impression it was actually a series {not season} and I know for a fact Doctor Who has been around longer than star trek. hrmph.

Well, it's the first season of the new series (and remember, what the US calls a season I believe the British call a series). Easier to market it that way then it would be to say this is the 27th season (or whatever the actual number is). You are much more likely to get people who haven't seen the series before looking at it by showing that you don't need to know the whole mythology (since it's all 'new') to enjoy the show. I know I was never that interested in the previous Dr. Who stuff, but I was willing to give this one a try since I was told I didn't need to know or be a fan of the classic series. And I'm glad I took their advice.

I am one who had never watched the original series (but konashark is familiar with it). I'm throughly enjoying the running of the first season on US Television (Thanks SciFi Channel!!!). Now that I've spoilered myself in this thread, I'm going to be paying more attention to the Bad Wolf (I remember seeing the graffiti on the TARDIS in the British Alien Invasion episode...had no idea it would reappear).
We just got the Dalek episode (where we pick up Adam) here in the States.

PBS around here (Florida) started running the series with the Tom Baker Episodes in the mid 70's. Yes, it has very campy moments, but the series is very consistent internally.

FYI:
indeed the naming changed. Though the last year (2005) could have been known as season 27 (or 28 if you count the 1996 tele-movie) it will be known as series 1 . (fact already established )
The Doctor has been around since 1963- till 1998. Then a 16 year break (from episodic-television at least)
Starting a new count does make some sense.....some...
.....The last aired episode is (about) 172
nd
episode in the Doctor saga.
