at the same time we might want to avoid tipping off people in pxc to the fact that we're receiving their emails via an error in the system.

I agree. This is a delicate information source that we don't want to upset or loose. I'm sure we'll find out who Carl is in the longer term. (Maybe just the child carer?)

My initial thought was that its nanny type person, makes perfect sense.

And as for my explosion... yeah, it was a bad day for me. Embarassed

well, for posterity, here's the current conversation:

Good afternoon.

Would you care to join me for a recital on Thursday? There's an intriguing programme of Earth fugues at the Lieucent Hall.

That's very kind, but I don't think we can get a sitter at short notice. Really, I would have loved to come along - we could use an evening away from the kids.

Can't Fleming look after them? You deserve a night out on your own.

Isaac, behave.

(I'll ask.)

Good news - Carl is happy to stay at home on Thursday. (He's not really a fugue man anyway.)

It's about time we caught up. Maybe we can have a glass of Tokay before the recital and set the world to rights. See you at the library around 6pm?

Thanks for giving me an excuse.

Seems to me like Carl and Fleming may both be references to someone named Carl Fleming...

EDIT: My bad. The Wiki done proved me wrong... Razz

No problem. It's all fine except for the fourth line: you might want to change 'gardabhanda' to 'gardabharatha'. Really. I think you should.

Gardabhanda means Donkey testicles. Gardabharatha means a Donkey Cart... Laughing Silly Kurt.

just as a little follow-up, I sent Kurt a quick email about Anna's husband's name, and he actually replied Smile

I sent:
Quote:
Hi Kurt,

Anna doesn't seem to be responding to any of my emails, so I was hoping that you perhaps could help me out with a quick detail: do you know her husband's name? The gentleman with the Auxiliary Police who (with you, of course) helped us acquire the Volunteer Access page and password a few weeks ago? I've been trying to contact him with a question or two. Hope you and Miranda are doing well. You might want to get together with Violet sometime soon, as well - seems she's been feeling pretty stressed out lately, and it doesn't look like she has anyone to talk to Sad

Regards,
Cassandra

Kurt answered with:
Quote:
Hi Cassandra,

Anna's husband's name is Fleming - I imagine that the best way to get in contact with him is by talking to Anna. Thanks for letting me know about Violet, I'll give her a call or something. Things are going well with Miranda, but she's away at a training camp at the moment so I'm missing her a little.

Cheers,
Kurt

So, still don't know about the Carl thing. Guess she's not poly.

Training camp? Or Evil School? Huh?
I think we know which one is more accurate.

I had a laugh when I googled this - some of the other words are great too (especially with those of a less well refined sense of humour - you know who you are)...

gardabhejyā - an ass-sacrifice

gardabhaka - anybody or anything resembling an ass

gardabharūpa - ass-shaped

and finally, not ass related,

gartya - deserving to be thrown into a hole

Just to explain why I didn't really think Carl was a childminder: The thing that doesn't really grok for me is Anna saying "Carl's not really a fugue man anyway." By this she means that he wouldn't enjoy the recital, but Isaac only invited Anna and Fleming - hence my confusion.

OMG! That's awful. She must feel terrible. Do you think we should, you know, go in and talk to her?

I'm guessing - POOR TIPPY!

I just ran a quick check on the wiki and counted 150 emails so far.

apologies for incoming threadjack:
Speaking of which, I saw someone in another thread bitching out the unforums for thinking that we were the only people that exist to try and find the cube. He was saying that he and a few of his friends were going through and solving everything on their own.

Problems like these emails, however, in addition to things like the 13th labour, reinforce the idea (to me at least) that this is a game intended to be played *with* a community. so while unfiction doesn't have to be your community of choice, a lone gunman isn't going to get very far in this game.

I'm not sure where I was going with this, but i think i finished. Smile

continue with posting your leaked emails here Arrow

I don't think that'd be the best idea.

although, re: the wiki page, i was wondering if we could possibly change the titles of the different conversation sections to the subject line of the emails it contains? makes it quite hard to find specific things since 'meanwhile...' could mean absolutely anything.

rach =)
