Yeah, it never stayed open for me either, so I guess it's not intended. Kind of a pain to keep "clicked" while you're trying to figure out the backward text.

No, there is [was] different text (the backwards writing) and as I recall at least one had no text at all.

Well - you are right the background is still there (and not legible). The backward text that was there when I did my earlier explorations (which WAS larger and legible) is gone...

Remember, the easiest way to see the screen without keeping your mouse clicked is to press PRINTSCREEN, and then CTRL-V into your Paint application.
That takes a screen shot.

Also, trying to be a little proactive...
On the google app, the first icon is the BLADE - which appears on Robert Langdon's page on the movie site.
The second icon is the GREEK CROSS - which appears on Manuel Aringarosa's page on the movie site.
The third icon is the CHALICE - which appears on Sophie Neveu's page on the movie site.

Now I'm not saying that today's puzzle is going to ask you the name on Sophie Neveu's forehead. Just that it might.

If I hadn't noticed they are giving 10,000 of those away, I'd have had more trouble with that one myself. As it were, I just went back to the prize page Wink

Almost all the answers have been pretty easy to find at http://www.sodarktheconofman.com.

I think the sole exception (so far) was the middle answer for today's puzzle which was an easy Google for davinci man

Puzzle Completion Time?

So is the "Puzzle Completion Time" refered to in the rules the time it from when you start the puzzle to the time you complete it? Or is it the time the puzzle is released to the time you complete it? The rules aren't very clear.

I'm not sure where i read this, its certainly not in the UK rules (maybe when you sign up?) but i do remember 'puzzle completion time' as being the time the puzzles are available for, eg: until "midnight GMT on May 12 2006" maybe? At any rate, there isn't any timer, so I don't think its a race.

If I understand the US rules correctly, it is a reference to a timestamp applied when you click "Submit" on the last of the 24 daily (Phase 1) puzzles, which will be used to determine the order of receipt for correct entries.

Quote:
If a participant correctly answers all 24 Daily Puzzles at any time before the Phase 1 Deadline, he/she will be immediately directed to the Daily Puzzle completion form ("Puzzle Completion Form"). The Puzzle Completion Form asks the participant to submit the Google ID the participant used to access the Daily Puzzles. ONCE PARTICIPANT FILLS IN HIS/HER GOOGLE ID AND CLICKS "SUBMIT" ON THE PUZZLE COMPLETION FORM, HIS/HER SUBMISSION WILL BE TIME-STAMPED AND WILL BE DEEMED PARTICIPANT'S OFFICIAL PUZZLE COMPLETION TIME ("PUZZLE COMPLETION TIME").

Hey guys, sorry to butt in...I'm really frustrated because for some reason, I can't load the DVC movie website and I therefore can't get past the first challange. Does anyone know why? Thanks!

The Module requires Internet Explorer 6 or higher, Firefox 1.0 or higher and Macromedia Flash 8.

DVCQueen, the quote above is from the official rules page. Do you have Macromedia Flash 8 installed on your computer?

I can't get into the site either. I even attempted to install the flash player-but, I kept getting a message saying that it was successfully installed. I would then go back and try again, but instead of something loading, I was kicked back out to the main page. There was no error message or any explanation of what happened.

I am going to try the IE browser to see if that works.

i fFairly thought the Vitruvian Man was common knowledge. Then again I suppose not everyone took architectural history.

fFor those who adore symbols, I fFound this nice page over on about.com: http://altreligion.about.com/library/davinci/bl_davincicode7.htm
it collects all (many?) of the symbols you can look fForward to seeing. Really you should consider reading the book, which includes names and pictures of symbols. Actually I'm a lover of symbology, myself, so much of them come naturally fFor me. But .. you know .. that's me.
