UKver2.0 RANT: Continue at your owk risk... Smile

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
No, I mean it, remember last time?

ahem
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I rather hope omitchell doesn't post his solve for a while. It really kills a thread when he does. Yeah, I don't HAVE to look at the spoiler, but the fact that nobody talks about a puzzle much after a solve is posted leads me to think that everyone gives up and copy/pastes when one is given. I mean, if the group is working together and it comes up out of a joint effort from people that commonly post to the forums, that makes sense. But when hardly any discussion is made and all of the sudden someone pops in with an answer PLOP! well, it's kinda boring. Maybe he'll give us the few days grace period that he gave for Primer. *crosses fingers*

RANT complete.

As said it is very hard to judge the liquid levels, but I have had a go. So with guitar, glass and water the notes I came up with were (from l to r)

clear F C
purple C# G
cloudy G E
clear Eb E
purple E A
cloudy C G#

Obviously the notes are not so important as the intervals.
I have tried playing these in all manner of orders with no recognition.
Anyone else get similar results?

Just spotted this...

http://pbskids.org/zoom/games/tunes-spoons/index.html

Make a virtual glass/water xylophone!
The Mac version seems to be system 9 and runs but sadly makes no sound on my G5 running in classic mode. Maybe the windows version is OK.

twelve tone scale, or twelve tone harmony
and I couldn't find any link between schoenberg and water music

I was trying to avoid having to mock anything up, cos I'm sure I'd make a mess of it. Come on you chinese water percussionists

mathamatically adjusting the water levels in any set order following a pattern or any rule of which glass you can fill at what time, in what order, or by color.

so ya, still trying to figure it out...

Just a thought about the colours,
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Perhaps they could represent the duration of each note? e.g. purple minims, clear quavers etc.

If this is true

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Handel's works only used 3 notes (F, D, G)

then

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

isn't it feasible to think that the 3 different colored liquids coorespond to those notes?

Taking a branch off of oliver's page, I have an idea.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It might be that since there are no two glasses with the same level of liquid, the color may indicate a tone and the height may indicate order to play them in.

Or, the height is the length of the note and the color is the tone.

So, then
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
what could the liquids be? G could = Grape juice for the purpleish one, but what about the yellow liquid and the clear?

Clear water could be sea = c. I know it's a bad pun, but seems to make sense in this situation

So the yellow liquid could very well be
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Pee

Is that a musical note?

I've looked at this card again, bearing in mind that it's meant to be landscape (see the orientation of the puzzle architect's name) I reckon the colour are there just to illustrate the rows to us.
