[UPDATE] PxC.com Newsletter - April 20, 2006

A new newsletter from perplexcity.com

Quote:
Thanks again for helping us to look for the Cube. Our first update email was such a success that we've decided to send out another one - you lucky people.

So here's the latest from Perplex City.

** PERPLEX CITY ON YOUR IPOD **
Yes, we've produced a podcast. For those of you not familiar with the term, a podcast is an audio file you can download and listen to at your leisure. (Little white headphones optional.) Our first podcast gives you a concise summary of the whole story so far - it's a miracle of miniaturisation! You can download the mp3 straight from our site, or subscribe to be sent regular installments. Read all about it at http://story.perplexcity.com/podcast

** WE'RE ON THINKGEEK **
Cube Hunters in the US will be glad to hear that Perplex City puzzle cards are now available through ThinkGeek, meaning fast and affordable delivery all over the States. Add to your collection by visiting http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/games/82f9/

Outside the US, you might prefer to shop at Firebox: http://www.firebox.com/index.html?dir=firebox&action=product&pid=1082&src_t=hfp

** ASSAULT ON THE THIRTEENTH LABOUR **
Hercules rattled through the first 12 without too much trouble, but even he couldn't have handled our 'Thirteenth Labour'. Now, the notorious puzzle card #251 has prompted players to team up and launch a collaborative attack. Hundreds of computers have started running the code-cracking client simultaneously. According to initial estimates, 250 computers could solve the card within nine months - but already, more than 800 have signed up. Join them and you could win fabulous prizes. All the details are at http://www.13thlabour.tk

** NEW WAVE HITS LEADERBOARD **
The arrival of the new Wave 3 cards caused a reshuffle at the top of the table this week, with oliverkeers13 emerging with a 50-point lead. He's also the first to player to earn the prestigious blue leitmark. Right now, the top US player is bendover on 8,983 points. The new cards seem to have attracted thousands of new players - so the competition will be even fiercer from now on. Take a look at the live leaderboard for up-to-the-minute scores: http://www.perplexcity.com/leaderboard/leaderboard.nbuild?start=1

** CALLING ALL SPIELBERGS, KUBRICKS, FINCHERS AND SINGERS **
Coming soon... a very, very exciting competition with a very, very exciting prize. It will be a test of your video skills, giving you the chance to express your directorial vision. So dust off that camcorder and pull out your bullhorn - the Perplex City video comp is on its way. Check http://www.perplexcity.com next Thursday for more information.

** STORY UPDATE **
Anna and Kurt found a surprising ally in the form of social butterfly Tippy Ankron. Tippy isn't known for her generous attitude, but she was happy to give the Cube Hunters a password for Helix Hesh's private files - in the hope of you finding some dirt on him. (A word of advice: never dump Tippy.)

Instead, you found a copy of the Cognivia shareholder report, which hinted that the trials for their latest version of Ceretin are having some serious problems. Kurt seems to think that 'Ceretin 6' may well have something to do with Isaac Cymbalisty's suspicious death. Perhaps the situation would become clearer if he could get hold of the forthcoming 'C6 research paper'...

Check out all the latest developments at the Story So Far: http://story.perplexcity.com

Happy hunting,

Mind Candy

Hmmmmm. Anyone else intrigued? I wonder if this is at all related to our fanfilm we're working on. Or even inspired by it. I wish they'd give more details on it now! I'm impatient.

The moment I heard about a movie contest an idea for a Perplex City version of "Modern Major General" from Pirates of Penzance popped into my head. I'm not sure whether to be happy that I thought up most of the lyrics for it or concerned that I just thought up some lyrics for a musical number about an ARG. XD

Hmm, that sounds like a film making competition doesn't it? Hehe, after all of the ciphers I didn't understand, and number things I couldn't do, and physics that made me want to cry, there is finally something I CAN do here! Woo.

Perhaps the film is for some PXC porn channel . . . Wink Combined with their penchant for puzzles the results could be hilarious. It could give the group effort on the 13th labour a whole new meaning.

Perhaps episodes based on the cards - "Divide by Three," "XXX," "Double Vision," "Turnabout," "Cocktails," "Pirates vs Ninjas," "9 Ball," "Animal Magic," "Cruel and Unusual," "Twisty Little Passages," The Rice Gambit," "Mind the Gap," (Hah!) "Four Friends Acting Up," "Pocket Rockets" [actually, there is a porn film by that name, or so I'm told], "Rolling Around," - goodness, they go on and on! Hadn't noticed this game was so dirty before Wink

What's even more worrying is that I could give you a basic plot outline for any of those titles in approximately 30 seconds.

Oh dear.

I like the way your mind works duckiemonster Laughing although I would be concerned if you put too much thought into a plot outline for "Animal Magic" Shocked
