[WEIRD] SeeMeRot.com WARNING: Potentially GROSS/CREEPY/NOT FOR SQUEAMISH
http://www.seemerot.com/
I recently found this site on a linkdump page that usually just links to funny videos and stuff. The site is weird and obviously low-budget. But the whole thing seems a bit fake to me. Anybody wanna dig in and see if they can find anything?
And by the way - if it's real: Ugh.

Had a look, felt quite ill and decided not to look any further. Don't care if it's real or not. Although I very much doubt it

Yeah, this is almost definatly not an ARG (in my opinon)
Unless they have some extra corpses around
they also said that they were in buisness for a few years
May I suggest a (unless you think this really may be an ARG) and maybe removing the link? Nobody wants to see these corpses

random link We don't lock a thread just because it isn't an ARG. (Maybe this one will be moved to an off-topic corner like Various&Sundry later.) People are free to discuss it, but there could be a bit bigger warning on the link for the squeamish. I'm not a mod, so i cannot edit the post myself.
And I must say, just because something is weird or unbelieveable (on the internet?!?) does not make it an ARG or trailhead. Posting it here (where we generally look for ARG news and rumors of ARGs) is a bit like the people who post random viral video links to the chat room -- annoying but not completely without merit to some audience.

ok, I agree. As long as it's not here and it has a warning

That is completely disgusting, the idea itself...I hope I never have to meet the person who actually thought this up.

As someone who works at a funeral home, you will see one of two things...
1.) no change at all. We had a disinterrment of a person who died in the Vietnam conflict and the parents wanted to move their son closer to them. 40 years later he still looked as if he had just died, even though the casket had rotten to an unusable state.
2. the body will rot, just like any other dead thing. If you have seen a dead animal at the side of the road over a couple of weeks, then that is what will eventually happen. Nothing new or unusual about that, other than to remind us of our own mortality.
This site is just another example of "Reality" TV genre. Just another in the Survivor/Fear Factor vein of things.
This much I do know...
1. They needed the family's permission
2. They needed the cemetery's permission to set up the power source and stuff that may be above ground...

Actually, due to them being buried, wouldn't they rot in an anaerobic fashion, thereby putrifying?

Quite interesting really......but the interestingness is clearly outweighed by its foulness.

You really don't want a thourough explanation do you...
OK spoilered for the squeamish...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
What happens, if the flys are kept away is that your gut bacteria begind taking over. Your immune system is what keeps them in check until you die. However, the process of embalming removes and sterilizes & replaces the gut contents and preserves other tissues. Other methods of rot involve flies leaving behind eggs that hatch into maggots, but in preserved and embalmed tissue that isn't as likely.

Hey. What a scam this would be. Shoot 10 seconds of webcam footage, save it as an animated GIF and post it as a live webcam on the internet.
I'd make bank!
I think this is one of those corpses that's gonna be rotting VERY slowly.

It would be more interesting if it was one of these burried alive things and we could watch the person eating and dringing occasionally.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If the person is embalmed then the most you may see is some drying out, maybe. If they were embalmed well, you may not even get that.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the casket to disintegrate around them - that should only take a couple of years or so.
I'd have to ask what type of light source they are using. Most light generates heat which would not be good for the casket lining after a while.

Here's the Internet's archive of that page as of 12/31/03:
