From the Prophet:

"Prophet" (7:13:16 PM): Hello.
SynchAtPlay (7:14:05 PM): Good evening
"Prophet" (7:14:34 PM): I need you to pass a message down to your fellow comrades.
SynchAtPlay (7:14:44 PM): I can do that
"Prophet" (7:15:42 PM): My networking situation is that of a distraught one and a little prisoner is acting up in his cage and I might have to silence him soon.
SynchAtPlay (7:16:09 PM): Well then
SynchAtPlay (7:16:13 PM): Is that the message?
"Prophet" (7:17:24 PM): My presence will be expected at least by 3:00 eastern standard time tomorrow, and just because I made you and your fellow fold members wait for so long, I have decided to add a little suprise with my visit.
SynchAtPlay (7:17:47 PM): All right, then, I'll pass that along
SynchAtPlay (7:18:14 PM): Have you tried Nyquil? That usually works well for quieting little prisoners
"Prophet" (7:20:24 PM): As a side note, for those wishing to be in the Fold, I will speak to them tomorrow afternoon and that I am not ignoring them.
"Prophet" (7:20:44 PM): And, my glock .18 will work just as well.
SynchAtPlay (7:20:58 PM): Yes, but Nyquil is so much quieter
"Prophet" (7:22:08 PM): I'm not the quiet type, now am I?
"Prophet" (7:22:11 PM): Now, I must be off.
"Prophet" (7:22:20 PM): No questions, good night.
SynchAtPlay (7:22:27 PM): All right, I shall pass along your message
SynchAtPlay (7:22:31 PM): Good evening to you

Holy heckler, Batman. I might actually be able to see something begin for once. But first, I need to set my alarm clock in order to be up in time.

To the Batcave!

Ok, so I take it that after hanging out at the chat for about an hour, nothing happened after I left?

Yeah, basically nothing at all, 'sides for idle conversation, discussion and random lonely people coming in and out seeking "company"... and that log Synch posted of course.

I hope tomorrow will be big. I'm gonna get up at 6 or 7 for this... or try, at least.

But yeah, TQL basically gave everyone except Synch the cold shoulder it seems.

hey...just wondering how you go about getting to that irc chat room he hints at. I tried to find it but no luck....ahh well. On the plus side, though, it sounds like i might be able to join the fold without using any type of IM! Thats very good.......hoorah!!!

I got this from catherwood when I played WIBS - It's what I used last night for BH (which turned out to be nothing), but it does work!!! (I modified what she had put in the channel and server to be BH friendly)

Quote:
I thought it would be helpful to explain what goes in the fields for that interface:
http://www.chriscole.info/cgiirc/irc.cgi

Nickname: (please fill in your own screen name)
Channel: #TheRoom
Server: irc.ircstorm.net
Format: (leave as default, or choose a template)

I left the format as default last night and this morning when I jumped in, just to see if anyone was around..... Hope that helps!

albatross,
I'm not totally up on your inabiity to use AIM (Firewall??).
Have you tried the web-based AIM?
I haven't but a friend of mine was able to use it when the regular client wouldn't work because of the network set-up at his work.
http://www.aim.com/get_aim/express/aim_expr.adp
Just a thought.
BTW - you are not the only noob. This looks like it is going to be my first ARG (at least the first to start of the three I am watching), and looking at the join date of some others in the this post I would venture to say there are at least a couple more of us.

hey, the reason i cant get AIM is because it takes (literally) over 12 hours to download. Why does it take so long, you ask? Because i have a crappy computer. How crappy, you ask? 64 mb ram, 56k dial up internet, and a really really really slow processor (not sure how slow, but it cant run games such as Tribes 2!) So yeah...thats why i dont just download it.

But thanks for your idea! I might have to try that!!

If you have that much of a problem d/l AIM you will also have a problem with mIRC. Does your computer crash when you try to use the java chat interface? In which case, a chat heavy game might not be the best fit for you - unless there are lots of other things going on that will allow you to participate in another way.

Your RAM has nothing to do with downloading it. Now, go here and download this. It's 8 MB. You're just annoying me with your ignorance and your "Make good choices! Shocked " crap. It will download in less than an hour no matter how slow your connection is. What I'm thinking is that you saw the Triton program on their main page and lost hope... which is still weird because that's new and you should have had AIM eons ago... but that page is what you need. Now do it and stop whining for people to try and get you into a damn GAIM! Do you not understand the point of this thing?

Pretty harsh, and personally I thought one of the aims (sorry bad pun) of these things was the online community aspect... we all start out ignorant, and only by asking questions do we learn.
