With all this talk about red queens and chess has anyone paid attention to mlo's favorite song? "When I'm 64", 64 squares on a chess board, a red queen? Could there be a connection?

I'm convinced, after looking long and hard at the red blob between her eyes and STOL, that she is looking at none other than the letters: STOL. with the many theories that have been floated on this, I like the "eye see lots" best. This gets into the paranormal with clairvoyance/esp/voodoo shit that is already an aspect of this game. It just fits. Really, there is enough reference to Alice in the pic as it is.

The ghostly figure is likely just that. She see's lots, afterall.

Hi everyone!

After helping figure out two of the other paintover pictures, I'm stuck now on this one. I would like to share with you all my thought process, and how the other images were found, in the hopes that working together we might be able to solve this Oct. 1 paintover picture.

Is this another paintover riddle, that will lead us to some additional files? Perhaps not. In fact, the carelessly files appear to be the first set of files because they were all introductory files (basically introducing the hackers, with no storyline development).

Could this Oct. 1 paintover picture be something even more important? The code (which, when decrypted says ALWAYS TO HAVE LESSONS TO LEARN) is spelled using icons which look much like locks, keys, safes, etc. Perhaps there is more to the code that simply what it spells? (See my enhanced image, included below). If you (like me) believe that the figure in the background is a skeleton, the combination of skeleton + key is potentially imporant.

FORMULA

URL - You get the URL by taking one or more elements in the picture and using their names or descriptions. (aqua + police = aquapolis, stuff under a score of music = underscore, little boxes = littleboxes)

FILENAME - The filename used will be the word that is brought attention to in the quote (because it is missing, or perhaps because it is highlighted in red.

For example, silvia, carlessly, unjust). In this case, perhaps stol, lots, lost or some variant of it.

USERNAME - So far, the username has always been the speaker of the quote (proteus, cassius, autolycus). In this case, Alice.

PASSWORD - The password seems to be the name of a prominent element in the picture. For example, urchin, door, scales. In this case, perhaps skeleton.

DIRECTORY - The directory appears to come from another element in the picture. For example, urchin, stairs/stairs/stairs, magnify. In this case, it could be something like girl, pigtails, play, skeleton, etc.




ELEMENTS

girl - playing, pigtails, peekaboo, hideandseek

quote - "Always to have lessons to learn." Getting bigger. Alice in Wonderland. I think it is also interesting that many of the symbols used appear to be locks, keys and safes.

highlighted letters - S TO L, stol, lots, lost

eye see - title of picture, sight, vision

skeleton - possibly a puppet, dead, falling

box around girl's eyes - colored box, red, the rest of the image is black and white

red blur - a heart, or a mouth/face, some say a red queen




POSSIBLE SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES

GROWTH - little girl is growing, alice is growing in quote

PLAY - girl is playing, skeleton is perhaps a puppet in a play, marionette

LEARN - girl is young and learning, lessons learned in quote

LITTLE BOX - the LITTLE girl has a BOX around her

NORMAL - the skeleton could be described as paranormal, versus the little 'normal' girl

YOUTH - When Alice says, "Always to have lessons to learn!" she is fearing the fact that she may be stuck a little kid forever. This may tie in with the fact that we're looking at a little girl. Also, the little girl is pulling her own pigtails, and "pulling pigtails" is a common term to describe immature attention-grabbing.

LOCK AND KEY - There are lots of locks, keys and safes in the coded quote. Could it mean skeleton + key = skeleton key?






POSSIBLE MEANINGS

"I see lots" - points to clairvoyant, vision and other sight-related words

"I see bigger" - using the alice quote to get bigger... leads to magnify, etc

"I see dead people" - leads to oracle, medium

The little girl is "seeing red" - perhaps anger, furious




POSSIBLE URLs

paranormaljournal.org - This is the best connection I see. The skeleton is kind of ghostly and "beyond" this word. The girl is "normal." That leads us to paranormal. Also, the "I see dead people" chain of thought leads us here.

metacortechs.com - Basically, the only connection I could make was that cortex is skin covering an organ... the skeleton has no skin, the girl does. Perhaps a clue?

little-boxes.net - Only connection I could make was there is a little box over the girl's eyes. Also, the fact that the little-boxes server has been used since makes this URL unlikely.

leiphe.net - This site was not yet live when the Oct. 1 paintover picture was released, so it can probably be ruled out. Though it should be mentioned since there is a page on leiphe.net called lessonslearned.html. Too similar to be ignored.

Yeah, as I mention in another thread, as soon as I heard the lyrics to the MP3 I thought of the first paintover pic.

With regards to the Red Queen (/Hypothesis) see attached capture from "A Detective Story" in The Animatrix.

Also, whilst watching The Animatrix in media player, I had a look at the Oct 1st picture, and noticed some of the pixels in the red 'thing' the girl is looking at area were changing colour! It's something to do with hardware overlay - some of the pixels in the .jpg are not RGB values but some overlay thing - you get a similar effect when trying to do a standard print screen from an overlay window (like a DVD in media player) and save it in a program like paint. So, basically, play a dvd/video in Media Player, pause it at quite a 'white' bit and whilst viewing the image (I'm using XP's standard image viewer), move it over media player, and you will see the pixels highlighted. I reckon there might be some steg stuff in there, but I'm having problems capturing the image whilst the overlay pixels are highlighted!

peterjmag on the chat last night was saying mp3stego dumped some stuff for this mp3, but it was jibberish (as in, not the right password used). I played around with it for a bit seeing if there was a way to speed up the checking of passwords (it decodes the entire mp3 everytime). But I got distracted by some other things and didnt get a chance to devote more time to it. But, mp3stego will give false alarms on normal legit mp3s, so that may just be a coincidence..
