Still not got it. I presume the widest interval is between the first/last/third to last and the third/sixth notes (if they are the same two notes). Keep thinking I'm getting it. The first phrase is like Weill's September song or Hush a bye baby but haven't tried either as soon goes wrong. Feel I've tried just about every combination of phrases going C ? Gsharp (or equivalent) without anything sounding familiar. How embarrassing. I'm going to need another nugget.

Don't be embarrassed ramsfan. You at least seem to know what you're talking about. My knowledge of music is about as good as my knowledge of Nuclear Physics, i.e. non existent! I'm never going to get this card Sad

I have tried the tune using the water glass program and it sounds vaguely familiar, but yet I still cannot get it. Sad Maybe the next hint will lead me to enlightenment.

I am in the same boat....managed to get a recognisable tune out of the glasses, but cannot name it......still trying tho but getting increasingly frustrated by it.....doesnt help that my music knowledge on semitones etc is non existent.

Nugget #4:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I cannot detect any connection between the answer and water, but I can think of something it has to do with fish

If there's to be another hint (and I would have no problem if there were no more), maybe we should find out what category of music it comes from (classical, pop, rock, swing, showtune, etc). Maybe we have enough though and I just need to give this thing another go.

Is the general conclusion that the water color has nothing to do with note length and is only for ease of viewing?

Could it be both note length and ease of viewing?

I do not want to really give a clue, as I consider this to be doublecross's show.
But I had a quick look at the Spoons and Tunes program (that I spotted and provided the link to) and I dont think you can play this tune on it because it does not appear to give you a chromatic scale (semitones). Remember I cant hear this program on my Mac so I am guessing that is the case - it only seems to offer eight possible levels of liquid - eight notes.
To reiterate I solved this with the help of doublecross's clue showing the order of the glasses and using the notes I posted earlier playing them over and over on a guitar until I spotted something I recognised.
OK I guess if you do not have access to a musical instrument of any kind you may have to find 12 glasses the same size, add liquid and try it that way.
Without giving too much away
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Four of the notes I posted were a semitone out

The lowest note is eight semitones below the highest

This means that
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
either the C or the A is wrong. If the C is wrong then the C# is also wrong and that would account for three of the four notes that are a semitone out. If the A is wrong... well then I don't know.

A 6th person has joined the winners' list... Somerswey

I don't have this card, or any wave 3 silvers. Anyone want to trade it for The Thirteenth Labour? Razz

Not being musically inclined is a real hindrance for this puzzle, even though I have been trying to clank out noticeable tunes on whatever online simulator I can find. I take it the music is string based?
