It looks like they actually are sending SMS to the US, as I just got one. I guess it just takes a little longer for the bits to be flown across the sea.

Where in your profile do you enter a mobile number to get these messages?

It's under "Your Account" as opposed to "Your Profile" on perplexcity.com.

Yep Bri, I believe that they are employing relay teams of pigeons to get them over - hence the delays - birds get tired, drop the message on handover, etc etc

How shiny and exciting...
...but has anyone found any information yet on whether or not this is costing us, the message receiving public?

I haven't received one yet does the way it's typed in make a difference i.e. I didn't put a country code in My Account and no hyphens. Could any of the US people shoot me an email on this?
Thanks,
Brian

For what it is worth, my account has just the ten-digit area code and phone number, with the standard US hyphens (XXX-XXX-XXXX) and no country code or leading "1".

I think that depends on your provider. Mine (T-Mobile in the US) has a great flat-rate data package that includes unlimited internet time and text messaging. Without that package, it is something like $0.05 or $0.10 for each text message sent or received.

...and they charge you to /receive/ SMSes over there? O_o

I was thinking the same thing, is free to receive messages in UK, and if they wanted to charge us they would have to tell us (and I had no credit when it arrived so can't be ).
Oh, and I meant they might start texting us, not emailing us, will edit the post.

Don't encourage him. He really doesn't need it.
