 		Anyone believe Tay's big sister got onto her computer, hacked a registered nick on IRCstorm and pretended to be TheProvider, all in the 20 minutes it took Tay to color her hair?

Sorry, I can only suspend disbelief so far.

 		There were plenty of ways to fix that blunder that did not include treating the players like idiots.

Coming here and insisting that she was OOG was bad enough. Treating me like I am stupid after I have devoted many, many hours to her game, including I might add, many hours waiting for TP to show up when Tay was right there on channel, that's too much.

I know of one "insanely hot French chick" who would do well to learn from another Frenchman. Andre Philidor famously said, "The pawns are the soul of the game."

You just don't disrespect the pawns.

 		Wow. I'm sorry her master plan got screwed up and she hadn't thought ahead enough to back out of a simple question and all, but if the PMs are going to be this rude and the very little we've had to do so far already has plotholes I'm inclined to agree with you guys.

Agreed. However, the reaction is well suited for the situation. I know I would be ticked off if I was being accused of something that wasn't true. And since she has been the blunt of most of the IG/OOG spec, I am sure that this is nothing more then "the straw that broke the camels' back".

Now, I'm not an experienced hacker, so I can not say whether or not someone is actually able to hack into Nickserv and get the password for a registered nick (and if it is the same one that is used for AIM, tried it there as well and it worked). So, for me, it is possible that her sister was actually able to do what it is that she was able to do and that this is just a lot people getting angry at the fact that nothing was going on, so when something did happen that turned out to be a prank, everything went haywire.

Something that tells me that what Tay is saying is true is that the IP's for the real "TP" and those of the sister are completely different (both are not masked, btw). "TP" says from "nyc" and the sister/Tay (not saying that they are both the same person, just saying that both of their IPs are the same) are "orlando". This information has been left out of most of the posts about this in here, so I just thought that I would throw that out there for you all to chew on.

Most are viewing this incident as though Tay is a PM. Maybe I am ignorant, but I am viewing this as though she is not. There are arguements that can be made for both sides, and all of them are valid and should be taken into consideration. But until the real PM breaks his/her silence and steps into this room to explain the situation, we will not know what arguement is the right one, and even then there will be people who will say that the post was made by Tay (which the Mods would be able to verify or disprove, I believe).

All I am saying is that no one can be really sure what is true concerning this event and so argueing about it helps no one. If you feel the need to vent, simply start another thread and everyone can vent over there. Not only does that leave this area a little cleaner, it also gives everyone one place to go to that doesn't mix SPEC (which is what this is at this point in time) with true game information.

 		That's true. And I'd considered the idea that she might be telling the truth, I just don't see why (if so) she couldn't have said 'I have no idea but hold on and I'll ask her'.

Shutting up now, though, you're right about keeping the area clean.

 		Actually it's pretty easy to log onto IRC from New York, then 5 minutes later from Florida, then 5 minutes later from Australia. Just use a proxy.

What addy said. There have been many days when my regular nick was logged on from NY, I drove 15 minutes to work and logged into IRC from either Sweden or France. You can't always believe the addresses that show up in IRC.

 		I have started a secondary BR thread that's for people that want to discuss the SNAFU that happened Saturday evening. As it was suggested before, maybe it would be better to continue this line of conversation over there & leave this thread open to actual IG info. That is assuming of course that there is anything left to be salvaged... I have asked a mod to move the parts of this thread that pertain to the mishap over to the secondary thread. Whether that will happen remains to be seen.
