Ooh. *runs off to check her phone* For us Aussies, do you replace the 04 with +61, or what? I never quite got that. ._.
You only replace the 0, so if you're 0439... it becomes +61439...
That's what I did and mine came through.

Heheheh, I had to run out and get text messages enabled on my cell phone, I don't want to be missing out on whatever could end up happening over text.

I haven't gotten anything over in my corner of the US. Don't know what's going on exactly. Have any of you US-ites ever sent any messages to MC?

Ahh, kay - thanks muchly. Haven't gotten anything yet, but presumably they sent out one wave and aren't resending whenever someone adds their number, which is understandable.

Glad someone posted about this - I got one on friday but thought nothing more of it!
Anyway, what the deuce is an "SMS Gateway" anyway? Yeah, I know SMS is Short Message Service, but why has a Gateway for them been activated, and why did I get a text telling me this?
So many questions! But fun!

Nothing on my New Zealand mobile, but really I think I'd be kidding myself to be sitting around waiting for one.

I assume it was just a test to make sure everything was working well or working rubbish.

I think SMS Gateway means that they have put our mobile numbers into a program or service that will send a single message to all people in the service at once (like what was used at the PCAG in London).

Actually, I think the SMS Gateway means that Mind Candy has set up a gateway for PxC to send text messages to earth. Kind of like Kurt set up a gateway for us to call the PxCPD.

For all those who are having trouble with your mobiles numbers, this comes from the 2nd May PPC.com update...
Quote:
Note: The SMS Mobile number in your profile should be in the following format:
UK: either 07779123456 or +447779123456
ROW: + {country code without 0's} mobile number, e.g: +17654321234 (no spaces and no punctuation)
Hope that helps! If it does, give some feedback here so others can benefit.

Regarding the phrase 'SMS Gateway', I think that in-game it means whatever esoteric means the Perplexians are using to transmit such messages from PXC to Earth, but OOG it refers to services provided by mass-mailing business SMS companies such as esendex and others...
(Yes, I used to spam people's phones using just such a service as part of my old job)

I'm with JoshTheBlack and Tintintin, I think it's so that the CRT can send us texts if they have to...
