[Trail] Gary Troup's "Bad Twin" (was Valenzetti)

Ok This looks like it is leading deeper so I am starting this new thread...

Here were my two original posts from the [Lost] USA Threads...
Ok, so maybe the lines are busy... or maybe they won't open up until the west coast finishes... whatever... found a link that is very interesting... Hunting down the path of the "Bad Twin"... I had already checked out amazon, and yes they are really selling it... But something new just popped up on the amazon page.... Cool "in-game" stuff...

This text is now on the page...
"Amazon.com Exclusive: Author Gary Troup delivered the manuscript for his hotly anticipated thriller, Bad Twin, just days before he boarded doomed Oceanic Flight 815. Watch the recently uncovered video clip of Gary Troup on Book Talk interviewed by Laird Granger talking about the controversy surrounding his mysteriously out-of-print first book, The Valenzetti Equation, and his new novel, Bad Twin."

It has a link to an in-game - (or seemingly in-game) video...

The amazon page is
this absurdly wide link

Go check it out while waiting for the busy signals to die out!

--------------------------

Ok more on the BAd Twin interview video.. found directly at this link...
this very wide link

It says clip 3 of 9... 3 of 9 folks... that means there maybe 8 others to find!

-Loch

--------------------------------
But it goes deeper as some gamers may have already noticed....

New in-game site http://www.valenzettifoundation.org/
Tons of new stuff here, looks like more clues all over the place.

Links to additional sites, puzzels on the home page... this one may go deep.

Trout Sorry, my first chance to use it!
I posted about the valenzetti site while the lost section was still in rumors.
I don't believe it is real, rational is Google ads, whois info and source states
it was created with AOLPress, a freeware wysiwyg html editor.
The site has been out for over a month now. Sorry but I say fansite.

Edited to avoid the dreaded horizontal scroll

Hmmm.. could be... but I wouldn't judge it just yet... the google ads,,, well we know the Lost exp. is using real sites like amazon, to feed us video, while also selling a book... You could be right, but I hope not Embarassed Very Happy

The source code looks similar to that of the Gary Troup site. Instead of actor's names it lists products that they offer. I would assume that both sites were designed by the same people.

Hmm, I don't know about that... Gary's site uses a lot of script, while the other looks pure html...

man it's so hard to tell... the line at the bottom includes the link to the ABC site for Lost, saying it's not associated with it... but the names nad places, especially in the blog, just seem so fictional... I'm of the mind that Valenzetti was a real person and Gary Troup (fictional) could easily have written a book relating to a real-world scientist, meaning the Valenzetti Foundation could very well be OOG.
It's just all so convenient...

Yeah, The Valenzetti Foundation does have links to in-game sites... If you go to the "Our Sponsers" page it lists
Widemore labs...
as well as bigspaceship1 which has changed from yesterday
and there is Global Paradigms Corp...

The Global Paradigms site looks in-game, if not, then someone did a massive amount of good work...

Clicking on the client page of Global, you can see that the Hanso Foundation is listed... most other links do not work (giving an intersting error message) but the "employment link gives an email address to mail to"

Amazon's info page states:

"Bad Twin is a work of fiction and all names, characters and incidents are used fictitiously; the author himself is a fictional character."

I totally think this is a sign that its in game. I'm totally picking it up asap!

it was confirmed that bigspaceship and widmore labs as well as global were fan made (i thought at least)

i would assume that this is as well out of game

At the bottom of the website I see:

(This site is not affiliated with ABC, ABC, ABC or ABC)

And links to the ABC Go website.

If it's an in-game website is that legal to do?

"Bad Twin" is more than likely in-game, and I've made this conclusion based on the fact Gary Troup died on the same plane crash the Lostaways survived, his manuscript was in Sawyer's hands on the most recent episode of the program, and the "Book Talk" interview where they mention Alvar Hanso:

Laird: "your book mentions a lot of real life people, places and institutions"

Gary: "Yeah, I try and incorporate a lot of real life stuff in my fiction. It just adds a lot of voracity."

Laird: "Like Alvar Hanso of the hanso foundation..."

Gary: "Yeah..."

The look on Troup's face when asked about Alvar Hanso tells me he's had a bit of "extra" experience with Alvar Hanso.

Do we need to spoiler this stuff? New websites, etc? Regardless,

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'm not sure about the Minnesota Metallurgy site. Did anybody look at the gallery? There are a bunch of pictures of what look like construction sites and some random stock photos. A few telltale pictures of polar bears...

Also, the photos load from thewidmoregroup.com (says my browser's status bar), so I suppose they're linked.

Dunno if I can make a judgement on whether they're in-game.
