UK Involvement?

Hey,

On the site I read about this game, it said they were working with Channel 4. So just a couple of questions;

1) Has there been anything shown on British TV about the ARG? (For example, the advert for Hanso Foundation)
2) Do you have to have watched the show to understand what to do?

Re: UK Involvement?

Hi Jenna...

Yes (there was an advert for the Hanso Foundation during the ad break when ep 1. of Lost was aired during the week on C4) and no (so far you haven't needed to know anything from either Series 1 or 2 to progress - however I guess following Series 2 will prove helpful (and fun!))

Hi, Jenna.

1) So far, the only known reference to the game on TV anywhere in the world is the Hanso Foundation advert, which, as far as I've seen, is in the first adbreak of each episode of Lost. (Each country Lost is aired in seems to have the same advert and it's own phone number to the Foundation's headquarters (0800 66 66 40 in the UK).)

2) No, but it would help. Since the alternate reality of the game is the same as the TV series, it would make sense that the two would be related (the first Hanso Foundation reference in the series is made in episode 3). For example, it might be useful to know the importance of 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 in the Lost universe, but it shouldn't be vital to play the ARG.

Thanks Smile

Episode 1 is being reshown tomorrow on E4 (I think) - do you think they will play the advert again?

I expect they will... They'll want to get as many people playing as possible, and if you're the type who normally pops out the room when ads are on, it's quite easy to miss!

I'd say it's pretty likely. If you don't see it there's a version without the phone number on the Foundation's website.

By the way, the first two episodes of the new season of Lost will be on Channel 4 from 18:00 to 19:40. The third should be on later on E4.

Considering that the release co-incides with the Channel Four launch of season 2, and that the hanso site was created by a company that Channel Four have used in the past, it seems highly likely that Channel Four are the puppet masters here.

On the other hand, where the writers have been interviewed regarding the game, they've implied it's partly to tide over the US viewers after Season 2 has wrapped up over there (in a couple of weeks time, I believe.)

Also, didn't they say that Channel 4 was doing it's own game or something?

The press releases quoted over at TLE indicate that there are/will be US and UK specific clues, so we all better be prepared to get along and work together.
