one thing that would be interesting is which charity she supported. Perhaps we can look for each of the ten charities on their own.

Found this which might be something...on the other hand, it might not be anything.

Joanna Corley. Puzzle Marathon, position number 7196 (if my calculations are correct...) Year 268.

Gentamocol? It's the only one which I've seen which has the special dispensation on it, hence I've flagged it.

J

Edit: Meh. Probably nothing, there are others who have such dispensations, I just hadn't found any. Nothing to see here, move along.

I did a quick check on google for all of the charities mentioned to see if they also had websites up, but I didn't find anything. That was a pretty cursory glance, though, so someone else might be able to find something.

I think I might know what we have to do.

If the ending of the web addresses for the profile pages is generated by the name of the runner, then we can deduce how exactly the system works and arrive at Miranda via the correct input.

Her site is likely somewhere on the list, but I think this might be a faster approach. Possibly.

EDIT: No, it looks totally randomized. There might be a way I don't see, but I have a feeling that's not it. In other words, NE'ERMIND! Laughing

Do you guys think she may have entered under the alias she used in the Ceretin 6 trial? Helena Gale, was it?

[EDIT] Wait, do we know how old she is? Kurt might have said something about that. Or her height. If we know those, we can reduce the entries down to find a more probable alias.

...or she could have been lieing about the marathon as well...

Shocked

AW HELL NAW!

Cursing

Maybe we should just make sure Kurt asks what Miranda's time was when they catch up. Crying or Very sad

I reckon that if she does have Barrow Feld syndrome, she is more likely to support the MEND charity. This would be a cause that mattered to her.

OK, wait; plan.

How many people do we have avaible to search through the pages?
If we split the work and make sure we don't trample each other, we'll find it faster.

EDIT: Made a topic for it; go go please go now thank you!

I'm still trying to figure out how much of what Miranda told me over the last few months was true. Someone told me that the best lies always contain a kernel of truth. There's no way that you can spend months with a person and not let any of your own personality show. Miranda might know how to play me, but I know her as well. I'll find her, and I'll need your help.

This is from PoLT, all the way back on Thursday (how long ago does that feel now? Shocked ) It just keeps popping into my head. I think Kurt's right...somewhere, Miranda has told us something that we'll be able to use to bring about her downfall.

[SPEC]This is going to be something on the Marathon site...no clue what - maybe she's got a special dispensation for taking drugs too? Perhaps a specific type? Maybe Veritana, for those wondering if she's got Barrow-Feld Syndrome (although, I don't buy that one) [/SPEC]

My only bet now would be that there is some sort of relation between the name of the runner and his/her uid in his/her page's URL... but I can't really see any relation at all... if we could carck it, then we could see what code miranda's name relates to, and just enter it into the url to get her page..
perhaps anyone can see something im missing'

Miranda and I visited the Centric Artificial Rainforest in Polygon Park while we were checking out the marathon route, and they had some interesting exhibits on similarities between our plants and those on Earth. It turns out that Miranda studied plant biology back at university - she seemed a bit embarrassed to admit it when I was surprised about how much she knew, but eventually she owned up.

This bit from the Path of Least Time stuck in my mind - maybe she supports the Plant Preservation Project?

This was my first thought as well.

I'm thinking maybe this site is of no relevance to us as of yet, but later on we'll be given something that will relate to a certain runner's page and have to find some info from there?

Though it would be a new low in criminal intelligence, what if she ran the marathon this year under an alias, used or new? I think the point of the site is to wait until we get this year's up and, lo and behold, we'll find our (wo)man!

Given that the marathon site at present, without any further pointers or brilliant deductive leaps, represents a particularly large haystack which may or may not contain a needle, here's some tangential marathon spec based on the following from the wiki - severe trouting expected... Wink

Quote:
The Perplex City Academy is situated at the intersection of the Park corner and the Mazy River, just outside the park.
Cognivia's main R&D labs are just outside the southern edge of the park.

Given that the Marathon does a circuit of the park, could the proximity of these locations be important? Could the Marathon be being / have been used as a cover for something happening at one or both of these locations?

Also, Hausam Amphitheatre and the Tanhill Botanical Gardens are both locations in the park that featured on the note that Kurt found at Miranda's apartment. Could they be more than just markers to point the way to Auger Park station?
