I was about to start programming something, however I am trying to find a more elegant solution.

I have tried hashing the names of the people in MD5 and SHA (using a java implementation) and come up with nothing so far.

If I don't find anything then I will extend something I already used for scanning IGNs website for game info, and use it for this. By the way, do we have some kind of timeframe ythat we have to complete all of this by...?

Update on findings...
nothing good, but here's what I have tried so far to save someone from trying it out again.

Name: Winnie Strauss
Polygon Park Marathon site hash result:9039bvwdvsuwg4oyx3kpvfx7brm8zsc9zlzc0s8d

MD5: ff8c1e6d71b26cfb60c443a97e7f8b83 FAIL
SHA-1/0: 2b95a42ac6ae6f0cc6c583e5e62646f3e3337f6 FAIL

anything above SHA-256 also fails because the hash result is longer.

(Goes to try some other stuff out)...

Just realised that programming somethingh won't come in useful at all because even on the participant page it doesn't have their name in plain text. Why Mind Candy why?

I think programming might help if we can find more fields to try in the php string, much like we did to find the race=puzzle results.

Maybe see if we can search for names or something else that way?

I ahve one way of solving it with a program, although it uses my assumption that a user id doesn't change from year to year...

All we have to do is make the program go through everypage and a build a db of all user ids, starting with the first year. The it should go through the next years pages and collect all new userids as well as flag user ids that have come up again...

This way it should narrow down the search space significantly...
