[HOAX] Phone Call from... nevermind, it's fake

I may be beating a dead horse here (I already posted about this on the thread on in-/out-of-game websites) but something posted above makes me wonder if oceanicairlines.com isn't legit after all. He told her to call back at 8:15, right? That's what the animation on this site said earlier today when I checked it, though now it shows nothing and 8:15 is in the source code.

Again, apologies if there's nothing to this, but it seemed too coincidental for me to pass up. (Then again, perhaps whoever is responsible for that site (a fan?) is just putting up red herrings.)

The Hugh calling people is a FAKE, a good one, a fun one, but a fake!!!

First before I tell you why I know, let me start off with my wife's conversation when we thought he was real...

My wife's conversation...
* I asked what he knew about Persephone. He said he knew some things but couldn't say at this time -- more coming soon, he said.

* Since I noticed that when you log on via Persephone on the newsletter page, it says "Welcome to Dharma," I asked if Persephone was connected to the Dharma Initiative. He said no.

* I knew from reading about other conversations with Hugh that he said it was good to poke around the Hanso site for clues, so I asked about that and he said it was true. I asked if there were other sites we should be looking at, and he said yes, but wouldn't tell me which ones -- he said more would be revealed soon.

* I asked if he could give me any passwords or clues to log in and get more info on the Hanso site, he said not at this time. I asked if his old password to get in was still good, and he said yes, but would not give it to me.

* I asked about his reported departure from the Hanso Foundation, and what led to it. He said he and Alvar had a "falling out" and said it was related to personal reasons. I referenced his bio on the site that mentions his commitment to family values and asked if that had anything to do with it, and he said yes, somewhat. I also asked if it had anything to do with Korea or Sri Lanka, he said no.

* I asked about the Valenzetti equation and the book about it. He said he did have something to do with that and had known and worked with Gary Troup on the book. I had also heard that Hugh had told another player that the equation itself was on the Internet somewhere, he confirmed that but wouldn't say where.

* Since he kept saying more would be revealed soon, I asked when "soon" was -- he said within the week.

* I asked if more info would be coming via the persephone.thehansofoundation.org page. He said that page would be taken down soon.

* One player had mentioned she was told to call him back at 8:15 a.m. (eastern time) tomorrow to get more info. I asked if that was good for all of us -- he said it was just for her (this player goes by lostscape on the LostTV forum), but that she could share the info with the rest of us. He also said she would not call him back at the same number I had called, but wouldn't give me a new number to call.

After reading the post about it possibly being a hacker, I decided to call him directly.. So there Mr. Hack :>

He answered in character, I told him that I was calling because I was concerned that someone had broke into his voicemail. He said "Really, I hadn't heard about that"... I asked some question, but in a nice way... The Voice acting wasn't anything like the quality of the OP in ILB....

But that isn't why I know he isn't in-game... The reason I know he isn't is in game starts here...

He asked if he had called me earlier, I said no, I got his number from the message boards.... He then asked me which ones... I game him the losttv fourm, and he said he was aware of it, but couldn't find that post... I gave him the direct URL...

He then asked for the others.... I game him this site, and lost.beloblog.com (where my wife is posting...)

And this is when I knew he wasn't in-game,,, no in-game persona would have "broken the fourth wall" like that...

So I have no doubt, he is not in-game........

But I am not angry, it was fun, he is/was having fun, and I salute him for his mischivvous antics!!!! (Although misplaced, he gets a fun place in the history of this worldwide event... And hey he paid his own money to make these calls, which gave a lot of people a thrill....)

Update: Even funnier, he seems to only be calling back ladies, He called back my wife, and the first person he called was female, and he has now called back 2 other people I know of that are female. But he hasn't called back any males that I am aware of. :>

I wonder if he thought I was an angry or jealous husband when I called him direct... HA

I'm guessing he wants to know where posts were made because the number hes using has been plastered across 4 forums that I'm watching, who knows how many others.

I just got called by Hugh McIntyre.

First of all, his voice was different than the first Hugh McIntyre.

He said he was clearing out his mailbox for the night and only two people were left to talk to.

I asked him how Michigan was, he said, "It's good. I'm hear on business."

I asked him how Alvar was, and if he had heard from him. To which he responded, "I really can't get into that right now."

I asked him if he could help me get in touch with Persephone, to which he responded, "That's not really possible at the moment."

I asked him, "Where are my manners, I called regarding the phone number hotline for the Offshore Korean Project. What's that number again?" to which he responded, "I can't reveal that right now."

So, nothing was learned... and some hacker who isn't even affiliated with the experience just called my phone at 2:50 AM as I was dozing off. Asshole.

Anyways... nothing special.

EDIT: I just dialed his real voice box again (the first time was directly after the call.) Let's just say upon further review the caller who identified himself as Hugh McIntyre sounded a lot more like the Hugh McIntyre the second time, almost to the point of if I hadn't heard about the Hacker I would know believe it.

The number that came up was, "1 586 861 5017"

Someone trout me, I posted the wrong number for the one he dialed me with.

586 764 9289. The voice number I had just called, so the logs were right on top of eachother, and when looking back at it I started reading off the real one. Mea culpa.
