[CTW2][SPEC] While we're waiting...

So.. I've been reading both the guides for the original Chasign the Wish (both have their good points... Varin's is complete and has all many of the files, while the melangerie one is cleaner and makes it easer to pick up plot. but is woefully incomplete - in other words Read Both)..

And I got to thinking...

It SEEMS to me like there shouldn't be anything left to do. Dale shouldn't be dreamign about these events, and his daughter CERTAINLY shouldn't remember the puzzle, etc.

So what's going on? Why has The Wish's powers seemed to fail again and leave all this residue?

I figure, I'd open the floor to speculation as to whats going on in Dale's world. Sure, we don't have much to go on besides the little bit from The Wish Comic webpage and knowledge of the previous game.. but it'll pass the time until we get some action.

I figure this thread can also be used by us newbies to get questions answered by CTW vets.

So.. what the heck is goin' on?

Well... we have the stellar event at the end with the Don (and really the celestial event of Mars getting as close to the earth as it did). We have the abandoned Ashram at the edge of town, and the possible time travel experience. We have Wes Keeler's association with the Weird and one of the nine (stones, he was given one by Sarah that was hidden in a statue), and Sarah Wyatt who according to post game information posted by Drizjr:

Quote:
You: Who was Sarah?
turingprinciple: Sarah Wyatt was an artist from central New Jersey who disappeared while she was still becoming famous. Turing Principle claimed that Sarah was a catalyst for her transformation into a sentient entity. Her presence changed something within the system's programming. Sarah was originally one of the children from the Ongs Hat who it apperas was deliberately left behind to fulfill the role of helping to re-awaken the Nine.
You: What is the disc?
turingprinciple: As part of the Chasing The Wish plotline, Wes Keeler found a strange disc in the Pine Barrens. We later found out that the disc had been made by Sarah Wyatt as one of three items by which the pathway to other worlds could be opened.
You: What is the wand?
turingprinciple: The wand was one of the three items Sarah created to help open up the pathways between the worlds. It was handed over to Dale's friends outside of Chicago, Illinois.
You: What is the mask?
turingprinciple: The mask was one of three items created by Sarah Wyatt to help open the pathway to the other realms, allowing Dale and his friends to summon the Wish.
You: What are the stones?
turingprinciple: Sarah Wyatt made nine special stones that she "released" into the world. They were designed to awaken the ones who had forgotten their true natures.

So possibly because there are several archtypes among the players who received stones, the knowledge was preserved because the archtypes remember the past that might have been with the Wish. Perhaps even the Wish is not strong enough to change the archtypes.

*Ten Days and counting until the Comic is released*

The Wish wasn't perfect the first time around either, remember. He left behind a bunch of evidence of things that happened before he changed the world, like the stub from the amusement park in Dale's belongings, or the video taken at the park. Then he (apparently, this is kind of speculation since there's no real explanation of why this happened that I know of) had to go back and change the park to a graveyard for awhile to cover his tracks.

I don't think the Wish is infallable and I think his powers have a somewhat limited sphere of effect. Anything could be disrupting his alterations, the leftover stones, Dale's mystical travelling experiences, basically anything. The Wish may just not be strong enough to completely eradicate all traces of what he's done, so dreams of reality live on. Or maybe something else is disrupting things, it's too early to tell. For all we know, Marzano's new construction site may be unearthing ancient relics...
