If it is Geography, they've always had the same solve for everyone. Maybe we should open a room, Wednesday, in IRC to ensure that the most UF folks possible get the secret decoder ring. How about #google_quest
?

Refreshing our recollections about the end game of Phase 1 of the quest (from the Rules) concerning what needs to happen between 1 PM EDT Wednesday and 1PM EDT Thursday:

Quote:
Phase 1 consists of twenty-four (24) Daily Puzzles (collectively "Daily Puzzles") . . . .

Quote:
Only the first 10,000 participants who, having correctly solved all 24 Daily Puzzles during Phase 1, submit a Puzzle Completion Form (and who thereafter submit a Contest Entry Form) in accordance with these Rules before 1:00 p.m. EDT on May 11, 2006 will be deemed "Finalists." Only Finalists are eligible to advance to the Final Phase.

Quote:
The determination of which specific participants, from among all participants submitting Puzzle Completion Forms and Contest Entry Forms before the Phase 1 Deadline, are deemed to be the "first 10,000" to do so (and therefore deemed to be Finalists) will be based on the Puzzle Completion Time and Contest Entry Time (defined below) applicable to each participant.

Quote:
If a participant correctly answers all 24 Daily Puzzles at any time before the Phase 1 Deadline, he/she will be immediately directed to the Daily Puzzle completion form ("Puzzle Completion Form").

Quote:
ONCE PARTICIPANT FILLS IN HIS/HER GOOGLE ID AND CLICKS "SUBMIT" ON THE PUZZLE COMPLETION FORM, HIS/HER SUBMISSION WILL BE TIME-STAMPED AND WILL BE DEEMED PARTICIPANT'S OFFICIAL PUZZLE COMPLETION TIME ("PUZZLE COMPLETION TIME").

Quote:
AFTER A PARTICIPANT HAS SUBMITTED HIS/HER PUZZLE COMPLETION FORM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THESE OFFICIAL RULES, THE PARTICIPANT WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DIRECTED TO A SEPARATE CONTEST ENTRY FORM ("CONTEST ENTRY FORM") WHICH THE PARTICIPANT MUST COMPLETE CORRECTLY AND IN FULL BY THE PHASE 1 DEADLINE IN ORDER TO BE DEEMED A POTENTIAL FINALIST. CONTEST ENTRY FORM WILL BE TIME-STAMPED AND WILL BE DEEMED PARTICIPANT'S OFFICIAL CONTEST ENTRY TIME ("CONTEST ENTRY TIME").

Quote:
THE DETERMINATION OF WHICH PARTICIPANTS ARE DEEMED POTENTIAL FINALISTS ELIGIBLE TO CONTINUE TO THE FINAL PHASE OF THE CONTEST DEPENDS ON HOW SOON EACH PARTICIPANT WHO HAS SOLVED ALL 24 DAILY PUZZLES CORRECTLY SUBMITS HIS/HER CORRECTLY FILLED OUT PUZZLE COMPLETION FORM AND THEREAFTER SUBMITS A CONTEST ENTRY FORM. ONLY THE FIRST 10,000 PARTICIPANTS WHO SUBMIT A PUZZLE COMPLETION FORM (AND WHO THEREAFTER SUBMIT A CONTEST ENTRY FORM) ARE ELIGIBLE TO ENTER THE FINAL PHASE.

Quote:
Information required on the Contest Entry Form consists of participant's first name, last name, email address, home mailing address including city, state and ZIP code (no P.O. boxes), date of birth, gender, telephone number (including area code) where he/she can be reached between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, May 26, 2006, and the Google ID used to access the Daily Puzzles (collectively, the "Entry Information").

Quote:
...the Contest participant ...shall be deemed a "Finalist" only if he/she was among the first 10,000 participants to submit a Puzzle Completion Form. All Finalists will be notified and will receive a Finalist Prize as described below [the cryptex].

D'oh! I can't use chat at work. Maybe someone can watch this thread also? The puzzles come out right at noon CST, which is when I'll work on it (my lunch break).

Either way, good luck to all.

So, they switched 'em up on us.
Looks like the last day will be the observation challenge.
Chat is still an option, if it is the same kind of puzzle we've seen, before.
Glad I'll be at work instead of on dial-up, 'cause those movies take a long time to load at home.

Maybe this'll be a good thing though. If it is the same type of puzzle we've had before and we can discipline ourselves to (as a group) attack the questions on an individual basis, we should be pretty quick to find the three correct responses. Like, if your nick starts with A-I, take the first question. J-R take the 2nd and S-Z the last. Or whatever.

What a fine example of viral marketing in action, though! In order to ensure the most exposure, they're "encouraging" people to do this through high-bandwidth connections in order to be competitive. Which, for many of us means a place where there are a lot of other people around.

True, I had problems with the last 2, but this one was easy.

I'm up for the IRC Idea, I just took the initiative and made a #google_quest on EFnet. Join it or make a different one and I'll join that. Enter the room and act semi intellegent and you will get opped. We will get those cryptexes (crypteces? crypti?) no problem.

I'll be sure to post here as soon as we come up with the answers.

I'm in the eFnet room, now, but wonder...
Aren't most peeps here are more familliar with connecting through the chat-sol servers for their IRC?

If nobody has a problem, I'll go either way, but thought I should bring it up.

I just have to be really careful not to disconnect, cause I get locked out till the timeout occurrs.

Anyone mind posting the correct answer to today's puzzle? The only sequence I remember from the book doesn't seem to be working.

It was really more simple than I expected, and hence I strugged and had to ask and then felt really silly Razz

I like your reply much better and wish I could delete mine.

I actually went to the ATT sequences site and entered the numbers. Doh!
