[UPDATE] Path Of Least Time - 10 May 06 - Stakeout
Quote:
Stakeout
Wednesday, May 10 2006, 09:50 AM
I'm still not sleeping. When I was in bed in the boarding house, I started drifting off and thought I felt an arm across my chest. Then I opened my eyes and, of course, nobody was there. That woke me up pretty sharply.
I spent the evening putting together a map (http://thepathofleasttime.com/map.html ) of Drowsington, so you can get a feel for the terrain. It didn't take long - it's not a big place. The red area to the west is the site of the Newdigate Ruins, which are covered by surveillance cameras. If Miranda comes through there, we'll see her - but we can be pretty sure she's not that stupid.
Violet gave me a call and volunteered to come and help out today. I think she feels a little guilty about letting Miranda get away the other day, even though there was no way she could have caught her. Miranda is quick and, evidently, well trained too. Violet got the train out here first thing today, which I know was tough for her as she's really not a morning person. At least if there are two of us we'll have a better chance of cornering Miranda.
So while I found myself a good vantage point across from the pharmacy this morning, Violet has been covering the ferry. The pharmacy opened at 8.30, and there's no sign yet. Maybe we've missed her. Maybe she isn't in Drowsington at all. Or maybe she'll arrive in the next minute.
I'll keep you informed.
There seems to be two marked spots on the map;Di's Pharmacy and the Newdigate Ruins. Neither of these spots do anything at the moment.

Poor Kurt, he should probably speak to a psych-bot before he does something silly.

thought just occured to me that perhaps Miranda has stolen the identity of someone and is posing as her to escape Kurt and the person that Vi and Kurt are watching is the real woman....

Miranda arrived at the pharmacy 10 minutes ago. I saw her cross the street twice, sizing up the area. I kept myself hidden on the upper floor of a store across the junction from her, and as soon as she went inside, I headed downstairs as fast as I could.
She was at the pharmacist's counter when I caught up with her. As soon as I opened the door, she glanced back and saw me. She played along for a moment, but I know she saw me. Because as soon as I got within arm's reach of her, she span past the next woman in the queue and put a blade to her throat. It was a short, makeshift knife, but it was sharp enough to do some damage. I imagine Miranda knows how to get the best out of it.
This poor lady was too scared to even scream. Miranda dragged her backwards and around the shelves, telling me to keep back. I couldn't say anything beyond, "Miranda..." and then I realised that it isn't even her name. I'd had a whole speech prepared for the moment I saw her again, but I couldn't speak. This red haired girl with this snarl on her face... it wasn't Miranda.
Then she was through the door and gone. She dropped the lady on the pavement outside, her headscarf skewed across her face.
I tried to limp after her, but she was sprinting south. Useless. This stick. Me.
I just called Violet to warn her.
*sighs* Hell, now even I just want to give Kurt a hug...
Time for Violet to kick Miranda's arse halfway across Drowsington methinks...

OOG:- As it appears that we're probably going to get several updates today from PoLT, how about keeping them in one thread for the sake of tidiness?

My money is on Miranda going to the next village along, given that it's on Kurt's map.

Covered by cameras though. I supose she would if she's a little shaken. However she still needs her pills.
Maybe she'll just die.

Could somebody post a screendump of the map for those of us who don't have/can't use flash please. As long as that isn't outside of the rules of course.

Ooh, Newdigate Ruins now flashing! Can't listen at work if it's a sound clip though.

Ah, OK, sorry.
But if that's the case and she now goes there it's pretty rubbish to have it appear on Kurt's website before he knew she was going there.

I assume that he highlighted it was as he mentioned the location in the post, and showed us the location to familiarise us with the town - but now it's looking like the surveillance cameras are going to play a part - can't wait...

I think he actually put it on there as it is supposed to be a landmark of the area and he did say it had cameras so it helps us to know what sorta area its in relation to drowsington

Well, Kurt mentioned it as a possible escape route in his first update today, so it's not that "rubbish". We've been given a map of the area to familiarise ourselves with it, Kurt put on the key place where we knew Miranda would be (the Pharmacy) and the location of the docks is pretty obvious. I'm willing to bet large sacks of cash that if the ruins hadn't been described, someone would now be complaining about a lack of information on the surrounding area...give the lad a break.

Edit: Heh. Yes, what everyone else said whilst I was typing this.
