The exact rules as to what is and what is not an adjective are not 100% clear to me. As with most of the english language the rules are not cut and dry. Since we can now enter our own text in, we need to pick things that have very simple sentence structures so there is no doubt what is and what is not an adjective.

Just added this to my favorites.

An very detailed, online sentence parser

Which, if I'm reading it correctly, will give us 4/4 for today's text, posted by Mcavity.

Go back and look at some of the older texts and it'll make more sense. It's not very fond of the alphabet checking sequence for today.

Nice find Rogi. This has been added to my favorites as well. Now I don't have to guess what an adjective is anymore, and it seems to backup the previous data. Luckily, I entered in 4 & 4 earlier this morning so we should see soon enough if this is the solve. Thanks again Rogi.

With all due respect to the puzzle and the puzzlers, I hope we never have to use this tool again... *winks*

Just posted by Kevin on the WA forum
Quote:
Time for a mea culpa.

Your speculation about the batch processor seems really interesting. I looked through the old batches to check it out and realized that I made some transcription errors. I've fixed 'em now, but my errors can't have made it easier to solve.

Originally, I was going to send something to the person who figured it out. But now, I think all of you cats deserve it. So please, accept my apologies and check your mailbox in a couple of days.

Good luck!

I have got to say i am disappointed. I may be wrong but i didn't believe that the comma/adjective theory would have been correct, there doesn't seem to be any reason behind it. Why would they tell us about the paper found with the batch processor if it wasn't supposed to be a clue.

It seems to me that they have realised that either we were not going to solve this one or we would have taken too long and messed up their time line so they have decide to change it.

I do understand that this is the first case and that it is important to keep to a time line with what they are trying to do but i do feel cheated.

Um, tallerbird, I don't think Kevin is saying that we don't still have to solve the Batch Processor problem. It looks to me as if we still do, but we need to reexamine all the earlier texts and results, since there were typos. He's sending all of us the objects in the mail as an apology.

So dust off all of your previous theories, everyone, and see if they fit now!

You know, I can sympathize with your feelings here, but growing pains as they are...

It seems to me that there was enough negative feedback and rightly so if there was a PM error) on the puzzles that something needed to be done. If this were a true foul, we'd be past this puzzle tomorrow and on to new ones. Still, the fact that there is a response at all tells me that SC is being more mindful than, say, the people behind a few imploded ARGs. (I know that I'm never going to drink Stella Artois again...Wink)

Personally, I don't feel all that fouled by it. It's the first puzzle and I can only hope that we'll get more context in regards to the tattered note. So we had to wait a while at the proverbial door. It sounds like it's opening soon, and I'm more anxious to get in than I am annoyed that we (possibly) should be in already.

My $.02,
-R

Will has demonstrable ability to do just that. In IDEASfest it was actually kinda comical how things would just magically work themselves out. Keeping to the schedule won't be a problem. But, that kind of activity may not play as well in this game as it did in the "just for fun" effort.

Hmm I'm not sure either way, but it does seem unlikely that they would have made a mistake and not realised, with all the chat on the forums. but then they might have done it deliberately as an ig quirk. Either way it looks like it will be cracked today, assuming ilikepucks gets it right today.

I better get my surprise though.

NICE find! I'm guessing you got it off the post-card? Speaking of which, do we have a scan of that baby, yet?
