Chuck's message + a better picture.

I tried out both PIN possibilities you left me in the comments of my last entry. 4570 was the right one. There was only one message and it was from Charles. You should listen to it for yourselves. The message was left Monday night. What damage could John have done?

Also, as Carl suggested, I rubbed a pencil over that faded out message. It made the hard to read portions clearer so I took a picture of that section.

Hopewell... I know that place! Charles took me there several times over the years. He loved to talk about the mounds and what their shapes could have meant.

My first instinct is to run right out there but honestly I'm not sure my best judgment is that great right now. I'm still kicking myself for knocking in John's door. If Charles was in there, John probably would have hurt him.

It sounds like something is happening tonight, but I'll defer to your judgment. Hopefully that won't involve knocking down doors.

Additionally, the .mp3 says something to the effect of "John, you need to listen to me very carefully. Do NOT come back here. You've done enough damage. It's going to take some doing to fix it all. Just STAY. AWAY. *click*"

I've commented as far as what I think it says. Either way, the clock's ticking.

Maybe we should have Sue go there but try to hide and just observe

Without doubt. It's a shame that tasers aren't allowed without a weapon's permit.

Yes, I think she should go as well. With a friend watching. Possibly with some pepper spray...Wink

Is anyone else worried about what it says before "old man 1st" ? I can't make it out at all, but I can't rule out that it says "kill"...

I'm pretty sure it says "call," not "kill." This doesn't mean that John Match doesn't pose a threat to Charles, but at least killing him isn't explicitly on his to-do list.

many of the hopewell mounds are shaped like animals... do we know what mound she went to and if its shape has any significance?

Good question, cjknight! We do know that she went to the tallest mound as the note suggested. It sounds as if it was too foggy for her to make out an animal shape, but knowing it was the tallest mound should narrow it down.
