[INFO] Hanso pic (hidden inside decompiled .swf) EDIT: I just read the 'ethics of decompiling .swf' thread and realize that some people may want spoiler text on this. Only thing, I couldn't figure out how to hide the attachment too. If a mod wants to do this, that's cool by me.
EDITpt2: Thanks!
Jeez, it's been a slow few days on this ARG.
Anyway, I can't claim credit for this one, and I don't think this is an update per se (hence I didn't know what tag to use), but on the yahoo board someone used Adobe Illustrator and/or Acrobat Professional to decompose the flash files on the site, and discovered another image behind the picture of Hanso on the Television Ad page (not the one on the Executive Bios page). You can just barely see the border of it if you look at the page as is.
Attached for your viewing pleasure:

Wow, there is very clearly something behind him on the page, so yeah, that's there to be found!
Would this be an indication that Decompiling is cool, since we couldn't get it without?

I read this too today during my googling and speculating...has anyone looked to see if it is a stock photo like the other photos on the THF site?
Question is, is it intentional and part of the ARG, or, was it just a temporary filler that the web site designers stuck in there until they had the photo of Hanso that they wanted from the show producers? Kindof like sticking in "greek" text when you are laying out a publication and don't have the copy yet.
Maybe I'm thinking too much about this though - I've never played an ARG before - not sure what the PMs usually do. I'm still like a deer in headlights when I read about any solves

I don't know about hiding the attachment, but you could add [SPOILER] to the thread subject.
Could be a stock photo, but it does look alot like that picture of Alvar Hanso. Julian might be right about it being a placeholder though.

Feasable, but wow, that does look a lot like the other Alvar Hanso pic

Actually, it looks like Locke. Seriously, it's probably
spoiler with some spec on stuff in Season 2
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Locke's original. I have a feeling that everyone on the island is a clone of their former selves. This is supported by the fact that all physical conditions that the islanders originally had (rose's cancer (? I think that's what she had) and Locke being a parapleagic.) have suddenly been "healed", not to mention the doctors that were the same person with different names. What I suspect is that they are all part of an experiment in which Hanso is researching how different people react to the need to survive.

Nope, can't hide an attachment with a spoiler tag. It's not a television episode spoiler, and it's barely a puzzle solution spoiler, it's only a spoiler if you think looking in the Flash file is wrong -- and I don't. Therefore, I'll just modify the topic title a bit to forewarn people if they need to avoid this kind of info.

I was thinking Dave Thomas from the Wendy's commercials.
I gotta say, I really doubt this photo was intended for public consumption. The new picture seems much more appropriate for a corporate website...why go with the grainy film picture if you have this to work with?
Then again, I have no good explanation for why the new picture wasn't removed...some kind of flash quirk?

It could happen, but then who is that to begin with? Everything happens for a reason otherwise, it wount happen.
It looks just like Locke... he might have been used as a basis.
Maybe the dev team put that image in place all along and simply we're seeing it too early? Add to the flash a bit of script that peels away the oldimage for the newimage that we are seeing now?
We'll see come this week on Lost perchance?

If it were just a placeholder, wouldn't they just use a Getty images (or stock photo) picture again?

I agree. This was ment to be found. the method may not be acceptable to some, but if they wanted a place holder then they could have use a blank, like Liddy's "image".

Also I think this has something to do with Persephone's insistance that we pay attention to the quality of the picture in Hanso's bio.
