Card Quality

A bit off topic but, yet again, rub off the panel and the card ID is obscured by silver print. This is the second silver card I have had with this problem.

Has any body else had this problem with the silver cards?

Mad

I finally got it, and I also think that this answer left a little something to be desired. As Magma said

Shouldn't there be FIVE vertices? I would expect one on Japan or one in the Southern Indian Ocean for it to be right...

It just seems a bit sloppy, mind you it had me stumped but it seems as though a more elegant and mystical answer would have been cooler

ukpeewee: "obscured by silver print"? The problem with silvers is that the code can be scraped off along with the coating. I suspect that's what happened to you. You have to scrape carefully on silvers because they printed a white box for the code on top of the silver card stock and then put the coating over that; it can all come off.

Try using a pencil eraser instead of something hard

For me anyway, this image (http://www.world-mysteries.com/mpl_2_ps.jpg) suggests that we solved it incorrectly. It did seem odd to me as well Smile

OK, now I know I get it.
Finally, my dense head pieces together the clues. Razz

Now, if only I owned the card! Laughing

I have to say, I agree. Not quite as annoyingly random as Polar, but it's up there. :/

I don't have the card, and as such can't appease my brain! Would someone mind if I PM'd them to confirm what I've gathered through the hints? It's pretty much out there but I wouldn't mind making sure.

Well I dont mind kirschner, however... I may not be the best candidate due to the fact that I think I have skipped a few pages of the main solve... Still managed to get the answer though... Might even help me to go over it with someone else. Up to you mate!

I definitely agree with the previous post - a great thanks to the folks who have been worrying at this card for a while. One of the things that someone said early on sparked a thought, which eventually lead me to the right answer (in time to be a fashionably late solve #69):

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The title of the card seems to be indicating the fate of the planet, but it also could be pointing to the fate of the earth (or dirt) itself. The map in the background shows pangaea, before its dirt moved around to form the continents.

After a bit, it occured to me that the solution might be referring to a mystical place, or places, built with the earth taken from these locations. I think that was the logic MC was after.

Or, it could just look like that after a good guess. All in all, more satisfactory than Polar.

Oh, I don't know... I think you can do it with what we had, provided you don't mind the end result being a bit wonky. It just needs a leap of imagination to work out what to do, then another one to work out what you're looking at. Not my favourite silver. Rolling Eyes

Zipped-up spoilery image follows, based on the
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Cape Verde / Galapagos / Spitzbergen / East Timor
locations suggested earlier.

My brain hurts

I know what we are talking about and there's no clear answer given here so I am on my second day of being locked out of this card. Can someone please PM me with either the answer or an obvious nudge?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I have tried: The great pyramid, gizeh, cairo, egypt, pyramid, gizah and nothing.

Help! Smile[/spoiler]
