I haven't looked yet, but I wonder if the clips now on the site are the same as the ones we've seen while doing the puzzles. If not, I wonder if there's more hidden messages in them. It just seems odd that they'd hide that in there just to lead us back to a website we already know about. Or maybe not. I dunno.

I'm so confused - I submitted the puzzle completion form at 12:04 or 12:05 CST. I got the initial e-mails saying I'd completed the quest, and as of right now, I've not gotten any other form of communication. No finalist e-mail, no not-a-finalist e-mail. Nothing. I'm kind of disappointed....

There was some sort of promotion with Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood, I forget which, involving messages hidden in the "exclusive" clips. Perhaps the highlighted letters relate to that.

For those of you who are finalists, what time did you submit your answer to the final puzzle???

I finished the puzzle sometime between 12:03 and 12:04 central and I didn't make it.

-Put the password in and take the cryptex apart.
-You will see two tiny screws at the end of the big part. Remove them.
-Remove the ring that the screws came out of.
-As stated before, only the last 2 letters in the code matter on this cryptex, remove those two rings and you will see that the plastic ring with the letters is removable. just take them out and rotate them. If you want the code to be APPLE, change those rings to L and E
-Find those tiny screws that you just lost
-put everything back together.

I didn't have my cryptex for more than 5 minutes before I had it completely dismantled. Just take it apart man, worry about putting it back together later. Wink

And now I am hanging my head in sadness. I probably would not have had a chance to win the final prize, but I would have liked to win the cryptex. Ah well. The other Da Vinci Code Quest is fun also. Maybe I will be luckier there.

Thanks for those instructions Stonefry. I submitted my puzzle completion forms at about 1306 and 1308. Somehow, I was lucky enough to be named a finalist, and got my cryptex today.

Anyone start pondering what the final challenges might be like?

I don't know, but I have a feeling it'll require us to see the movie.

What makes you think that? Just because it starts on the day the movie comes out?

All the same, I think I will go see the movie 1st anyhow.

I think Sony's devious enough to make us watch the film. At the least, I'm gonna speed read through the novel again.

A clarification - does the time trial time from when you start to when you finish, or from 1:00 PM EDT until you finish?

Yep, that's the main reason, but also partly because it can be started at any point within the 48 hours it's posted, although that could just be to be fair.

And yeah, I'm with you...I'll probably see the movie first anyway. Maybe they won't be directly related to the movie, but maybe it'll help.

I believe it is timed form when you start to when you finish. They state that the person who finishes in the shortest amount of time will win, not the person who finishes first.

Well, there are going to be five final puzzles. I know that one of them is the chess challenge (without the multiple choice hints), so that tells me the five puzzles are going to be the symbol, observation, curator, chess, and geography puzzles.

You'll click "begin", and then you're on a timer. When you finish all five, you'll get time stamped, and the person with the fastest time will be the winner of the Grand Prize.

If you pause, close, or otherwise alter the puzzles, you will be disqualified.
