I think decompiling the flash is really no different from looking at HTML, JavaScript, XML, EXIF metadata etc. etc. With SWF they could easily hide parts of the code they don't want people to see and use server-based authentication if they didn't want us finding passwords etc. in the SWF files.

But I agree that some people find this at least partially unethical, so out of curtesy I think that anything found this way should be marked as a spoiler.

I dont know either lol when i did compile it i did look at all images, and sounds, but there were no videos enclosed within it apparently which makes me think the videos are streaming from somewhere else?

bobbling link

so..... while y'all are decompiling the flash program and glancing at it cursorily to expedite things.... has anyone noticed the "About the MFI" header on the Mathematical Forecasting Initiative page being a link? that bobbles whenever you load the page? and then links to what seems to be nothing?

Is it as defunct as it seems and am I just going crazy at this hour, or is there anything behind this that you can find in the flash file?

As far as I can see, all the project pages have a possible link on their 'About the....' title - whether it will link eventually, or whether its just leading us back to the main page of that project (ie what you're on already) I'm not sure. May just be sloppy design - we've had a little of that on this site.

If a boot may suggest

I am new to AGRs, and know nothing about decompiling flash, but I have wanted to get at various images in the site to see if they are stegged. So I see the ability to tear apart the .swf as a tool to get what you need.

However if some people have an issue with this practice then I would suggest all postings with info obtained from the .swf be tagged with [D.swf].

Note: Please correct me if I am wrong (be kind), but as I understand images cannot be checked for stegged info from a screen capture.

This community has played many games for many (several?) years and has already come to terms with decompiling Flash -- it has never (as far as i can remember) been tagged or spoilered before, and we're not going to change.

Correct, you cannot retain any embedded information from a stegged image by only grabbing a screen capture. Part of the reasoning behind stegonography is that the visible portion is not where the data lies.

As for a stegged image being stored inside a Flash file, well, call me skeptical. That is all.
