[SPEC] The Three Kings

The Three Kings:

A Cliffs Notes Version
by: Silverkun

Quote:
Page One:
Timeframe: Before magic was forgotten

God: Dumdeedum... *snaps fingers*
People of Clay and Stone: We're hardworking, solid, and dependable!
People of Spirit and Sky: We're quick-witted, beautiful, and full of magic (which hasn't been forgotten!)
People of Water: We're the middle man! WHOOSH! *mixes with clay and flies into the sky to make it rain*
God: There. Now you guys are brothers, equal and good and stuff in my eyes.
Three Brothers: *quarrel like siblings*
People of Clay: We're the coolest! God loves us best! We were first!
People of Sky: Pssh. Losers. God loves us better! WE were first
People of Water: *gets ignored like the youngest sibling, but tells the people of clay and sky what they want to hear* Oh, yes, you're the best.
*aside snicker* Tricksey Water People are all OVER the place. Love us best, God does... *cough* Gollum... gollum...

Page Two:
People of Water: *starts more shite*
People of Clay and Sky: *battle some more, sheds each others blood*
King of Water: Hey, Sky King! Man, you Sky people rule. Of course God loves you! Look. The Clay King is going to be hanging out somewhere at noon tomorrow. Pwn him and get your boast on, yo!
King of Sky: Damn straight! It's on!
-------
King of Water: Yo, Clay King! Sky King's gonna try to kick your ass tomorrow while you're hanging out with your crew!
King of Clay: Oh HELL no! I'm going to roll over there and kick is ass
King of Water: Nonono! I have a better idea. Have your people make a clay pot and I'll show you some l33t sk1llz you can do with stone! I'll just need some of your clay, 'kay?
King of Clay: Um... Okay.

Page Two into Three:
Setting: Outside of the Clay Kingdom
Sky King: BOO-YAH! You talk too much crap, Clayboy! REPRESENT! *fires lightling bolts, Palpatine-style*
Clay King: *raises pot*
Lighting Bolts: *zip into pot*
Sky King: RAAAAAAARGH! *changes into lightning and charges King of Clay
King of Clay: AUGH! God! Save me!
Clay Jar: *sucks up Sky King*
Sky King (from the jar): YOU SUX0RS, CLAY KING! You have me in here, but I've got half your soul! I'll use it to kick your ass, later! AND YOUR LITTLE DOG, TOO!
Clay King: Water King! What the hell! He's going to kick my ass!
Water King: He might be able to do it, too. You better kick the crap out of his people, first!
Clay King: Hey... YEAH! REPRESENT!
People of Sky: *die... well at least most of them*
Sneaky Sky People: Yikes! *flee*
People of Clay: *rule over the earth*

And whenever the Sky People were found, the men of clay asked the people of water to imprison them. Which they did. Until they got busted.

Hokey? Perhaps. But it sums things up about as well as the burnmarks would let me.

So this would suggest to me that the whole "Man of Clay" thing that John refers to Charles as the king of clay. Which would suggest that John's taking on the side of the Sky People.

Which suggests that there's someone in the background pulling the strings. How sounds?

I like it, Silverkun!

Here's my take (copied from SC forum):

I think that we (humans) are the clay people. I don't know enough about the Weird to assign the roles of the water and sky people to any particular beings.

It sounds like humans long ago imprisoned some sort of spirit race (sky people) with the connivance of the water people, and that something John did has weakened their prison such that they are starting to free themselves. Since there were clay fragments at Charles' house, John might have broken one of the very clay jars mentioned in the story.

For a while now, I've been kicking around the idea that John Match is being possessed or controlled by someone or something. Perhaps one of the sky people?

EDIT: And speaking of John Match, did anyone else notice that there's new text on his website? It's in red; you can't miss it.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Each word is an anagram; I make it out to be:

Cyphers weird protect. I weird to be. Magics old within me boil. I balance old restore. I debts thousand years old settle. Business owned by you mind. Secrets of your own find.

Sounds like someone would like us to buzz off and stop nosing around their affairs. But can we afford not to pry?

Heh. Looks like we stumbled across this at the same time.

I am a bit of a mythology nut but i can't find any similar stories to this three kings one, i even hit the books after having no luck with Google but i still can't find anything.
A lot of cultures have slightly similar tales but none that i think are related.

The most interesting part for me is the last bit.

I have a feeling that their downfall is going to be important.

Well, the story says that Man were specifically of clay and mud, and that sky people were of spirits and magic.

Like, ya know, ghosts.

The broken things were clay. I'm thinking they held a spirit and now no longer do. Which explains why people are acting weird....

Oh, and I just caught Tallerbird's update.
I agree. I can't find anything on Google, either.

And it's possible that there are more bits of information for the Water People... I can't help but wonder who that might be in our unfolding story...

Either way, I'm actually starting to feel sorry for John. I also note they don't mention anything about fire people...
