A quick and dirty transcription of the relevent portions of the podcast. The language is natural, so grammar's a bit odd.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Alvar Hanso! Yeah, conspiraspies, it's yet another story accounting for the whereabouts of your favourite arms-dealer turned mad-scientist. We've heard it all. Hanso's a figurehead, your proverbial Mr. Cluck. He's floating in orbit a VIP guest on the MIR space-station and so on. But this one, it comes from inside the organization. According to my source, old Alvar's in the deep freeze in the Hanso Foundation's lab near Phoenix, Arizona. Now this makes sense. This explains why the guy hasn't been spotted in years. Now I'm going to get serious. We like to have our fun, but when it comes to the Hanso Foundation consider this the brussel sprouts portion of the DJ Dan nutritious meal, folks. Now, if you know my show, you know that if the Hanso Foundation is doing something, it is not good. Sure, they want you to believe that they're saving humanity with their top-secret science projects but we're smarter than that. And thanks to the hacker Persephone, we now have proof. We all know what's really going on, don't we? Frozen or cooked, I don't want you thinking for one second that Alvar Hanso and his cronies are any less dangerous. Anyway, you can see these cryogencis people really get me. These Hanso Foundation and their ilk prey on the weak and the sick and I want you to shut it down. So, my suggest to you, stay warm dear conspirspy...

The "mythic beastie" is a ground sloth. A quick search on Google images yeilded this site:
http://www.museum.state.il.us/exhibits/larson/sloth.html
I'm not sure what, if anything, this has to do w/ Hanso.

P.S. My 100th post would end up being about some ancient mythical animal! Laughing

Okay, this is certainly nothing, but I'm posting it anyway. Very Happy Hunting through the directories listed in the source code, I found several versions of the picture on the front page. It looks to me like someone was playing in Photoshop for the best version to use:

Does anyone else get the mythical creature reference they threw in there?

I have a feeling that photo of the "mythic beastie" is stegged. Photoshop says there "might be a digital watermark, but it cannot be read". I interpret that as there is some out-of-place data in the GIF. I haven't been able to find a tool that can read that kind of stuff though, but it might be worth checking for someone who knows their way around stegged gifs.

edit: spellcheck

Right, the image is called 'reconstruction'... there's probably something there. I'll have a look in a second. Also, the creature was used as a joke running up to series two in the USA. The writers published a fake script in which the 'Thing In The Jungle' was half land-sloth half robot. I think that's right anyway... I might have dreamt it though. Sorry if i did.

Edit: Can't find anything.

Can gif images be stegged? I was under the assumption that only jpeg images could be.

I'm not certain if it will work with gif files, but you could always try OutGuess.,

OOG Trivia Regarding DJ Dan:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

They say that the photo of DJ Dan is actually Lost writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach. Isn't that interesting?

Not so much a spoiler... but some of you might crave the alternate reality, I don't want to shatter it for you.

The above spoiler is indeed correct, also, should we post an [IN-GAME] on this site?

The sites on DJ Dan's links page are out of game; Nate did some sleuthing earlier today in the chatroom and pulled up all 11 WHOIS records. Nothing created after 2004.

Coast to Coast AM (the first link) is Art Bell's radio show, for you non-US non-AM-radio-listeners; DJ Dan's podcast is a fairly accurate parody of the format.

FWIW, I don't think Art Bell has hosted the show for a few years now.

he's been hosting weekends nad fill-ins. He recently moved to the Philipene's (sp) I think it was, but will be up and running to host shows again in a couple of weeks. But the official title is Coast to Coast AM, and the main host is George Noorey.

Next question how do we buy merchandise. This is the part where we can support the game. If only they let you buy the stuff with no lost tag attached on the merchandise.

You didn't dream it. The fake script was found on the official oceanic airlines site.

Lostpedia has it saved here:
