Why would the puppet master bother continuing this game?

I know the game didn't run particularly smoothly, but it seems that every attempt made by this puppet master to move past mistakes and get on with the game was met with vitriolic derision.

This was a game someone created for us. The fact that there were mistakes doesn't negate the countless hours I'm sure were invested in an effort to engage and entertain us. We, in return, spent countless hours in this new world, and as such we are owed a certain amount of respect and attention from those running the game.

However, if you find a game is not progressing as you like, and feedback doesn't seem to encourage change, maybe it's time to walk away calmly, because disdainfully mocking a volunteer puppet master is completely uncalled for.

Didn't run particularly smoothly? Are you serious?!? Were you playing this game at all Chumlee? If not then please don't try and preach to the people that were involved in it. The PM broke the rules from the start by posting on UF under multiple handles, pretending to be OOG, then made a major blunder by forgetting to use a proxy server, thereby exposing their real IP location. Instead of trying to rectify the situation right then and there she decides to insult the players intelligence by blaming it on a phantom "sister" who somehow manged to "guess" the PM's AIM pw as well as their IRC chatroom pw. And when some of the players called her on it she copped an attitude and never even attmpted to accept any responsibility for the mistake preferring to continue to insult the players intelligence by lying.

You talk about the "countless hours" that were "invested in an effort to entertain us". Funny, but I don't recall seeing you in the chatroom or on AIM trying to decipher the unintelligible clues that were dropped whenever the PM deigned to take the time to interact with the players. You say that we are "owed a certain amount of respect and attention from those running the game". Well I think that's one point everyone involved can agree on. Unfortunately there was neither respect nor attention given to the people involved. And I reiterate that I don't recall seeing you in the chatroom or on AIM participating in this game. If you were one of the players then please, feel free to tell us who you were and how much time you spent playing this game.

And then there's the whole sorry attempt at an "apology" where the PM completely ignores her mistakes and lies and instead attempts to blame the players for what has happened by implying it's their "impatience" that has made such a mess of things. It might have been a different story if the PM had stepped up earlier, when the imposter PM showed up, and owned up to her mistake. I'm willing to bet that the majority of the players would have been willing to forgive & forget and would have been happy to continue on with the game. But when you have a PM that doesn't plan things out that far in advance, makes a serious mistake, tries to bs the players with an obviously lame excuse for what happened and then posts an "apology" that takes no responsibility for past mistakes/denials/lies and instead tries to point the finger at the players for the shape the game is in how can you expect the players to have an ounce of respect for that PM when it's clear that the PM doesn't have any respect for her players?

Seriously?

OK, this is what I hear:

BOS: "This game sucks!"
PM: "OK, let's try again."
BOS: "Your game sucks and you suck, too!"
<silence>
BOS: "Hey, is this game still on?"
Me: "Why would the PM bother?"
BOS: "You suck!"

You attack me despite the fact that you know almost nothing about me or my participation in this or any other ARG, yet you joined this site less than a month ago (your first post was an insult to the puppet master) and haven't experienced an ARG since Majestic.

So, instead of attacking people who don't have something negative to say, how about taking a crack at the original question: why would the PM bother continuing this game?

Salutations and Shameless Showing-Offery.

First post ever. Will register later. Currently very late, and I am quite tired.

Anyways. The way the difference in the format of words on the website was emphasized reminded me of the quite novel novel, M.Z. Danielewski's House of Leaves. Did anyone else have the memory center of their brains tickled? Also, at one point there was reference to the [paraphrase] one downstairs making too much noise [end] This reminded me of a song by Voltaire titled 'The Man Upstairs.' I would not give the PM that much credit, though, for that would be too clever of a reference for someone at that PM's level of subterfuge. Google the lyrics and you'll see.

Anyways, I hope I can get some introductory words and recognition of my observations, as unrelated and futile as they may be. Hopefully this thread isn't dead enough to be ignored.

Oh... and Ill register sometime... gotsta have me avvy...

Is that a reference to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? That movie was funny.
