Today, I tried sending a message to Joop. Yesterday it was telling me connection timeout, but today, Joop gets angry and there is some new stuff to do.

Hi Very Happy Could you elaborate? It seems the same to me...

Sure thing, sorry about that.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I went to Joop's page, to the "send Joop a message" section. I typed in "How are you Joop" (although on subsequent attempts, even the letter j worked). Joop screamed at me, and the screen cleared and I was presented with what looked like some kind of microsopic cellular view. Two cells were circled, I clicked them. A line was drawn between them and two other cells were circled. I repeated this 5 times total and a cell was circled in red.

Then, I was shown a section of a letter from Jacques Maillot, Director General of GWC (Global Welfare Consortium) to the CDC, cc'd to various executives of the Hanso foundation talking about how the Hanso Foundation has created a new strain of disease and is an ethical violation. When you move the mouse around, it's like looking at the letter using a small flashlight in the dark, you can't see the whole thing at once.

I clicked his signature, and there is a response from Peter Thomspon, apologizing for GWC's last letter, saying that the GWC had been welcomed with open arms.

Then, I click Peter Thompson's signatures and Persephone? highlights certain sections of the letter and accuses conspiracy.

These letters have more details and I am just summarizing with my interpretation, but I have Photoshopped composites of the letters. Is attaching them a spoiler? Is this a spoiler? Sorry for my bad forum etiquette. If it is okay to attach the letters, I can do that next.

What amer is seeing is not really new, and not specific to the USA audience.

The GWC letters have already been reported in the Hanso site discussion thread. (Check the Quick Reference sticky thread or do a Search for an idea when this was first seen.)

The Joop behavior seems to be that if you have never entered 'breaking strain' in the "Send Joop a Message" box, it acts like it times out and accepts nothing, giving you a "connection timeout" message. AFTER you enter the correct passcode phrase here, the system recognizes you as having access, and you can return to the box and submit *anything* and still get the same letters.

I wouldn't bother moving these posts, but please refer to the existing discussion to continue. (Sorry i don't have a direct link handy.)

Meanwhile, what should be done with this thread? It says "USA" in the topic, but doesn't really explain its purpose. There are other threads for discussion of how the latest Season 2 episodes _may_ tie into the game (and such content should still be wrapped in a 'spoiler' tag, even in a USA thread).

There are other forums specific to discussion of plot developments within the television show alone; I recommend www.TelevisionWithoutPity.com for such "off the topic of The Experience" discussion.

So, what is the purpose of a USA thread? Let me know, so I can moderate it for you (when I'm at my home computer and logged in).

This is old, really old. It was found the first day the site was up. It would help to read the boards before posting.

Seems to me that this thread is a bit defunct. Most further topics could be best covered in another thread. My suggestion: Locky! Very Happy

Ok, let's try a novel approach. Self regulation. If you guys think this thread is no longer needed, don't post in it. The thread will sink to the bottom and never be seen again. Locking is more of a last resort, it's the moderators forcing a choice upon you. As much as possible unfiction tries to avoid playing around with the forums and dictating their use. (obviously there are limits)

For now I'm leaving this open. I agree the thread isn't needed, but I'd like to see the players here show some thought about what they post and where they post.

May i just point out that by posting these replies ^above^, this thread was bumped from way down the list up to the top.

Replies which contributed NOTHING to the discussion.

Replies which IGNORED the diplomatic advice given by my fellow moderator, colin, above.

Now. I really don't want to lock this thread. Those [LOCKED] tags really annoy me with how they look in the thread list.

I wanted to just deleted the POINTLESS recent replies, which would have sent this thread back down the list where it belongs. But, no, the unforums policy states that I should not delete posts.

So, there they sit, like two class clowns, in the corner wearing dunce caps.

Dunce and Dunce

Are you going to join them? DO NOT REPLY!
