[SITE] Let Your Compass Guide You (May 17th)

On the Executive Bios section of the website, Hugh McIntyre's page has been updated. His picture has been removed, and there is a box asking for a login to view the press release.

Edit: There's more! Under Active Projects go to the Electromagnetic Research Initiative. The date under the aurora borealis will be different, and there will be a counter in the upper left which changes depending on where your cursor is on the page. Click on the middle of the graph to the right of the picture, at about X = 630 Y = 290. And keep going from there.

If you hit enter, this link shows up in the middle of the formula to

This update works intermittently for me though. First it's there, then it's back to normal. Bah.

Yeah she is there, didn't notice first time.

Spinning the compass somewhat randomly brings up a weird flash but I can't recreate it Sad

This game is getting to me, I just screamed at my own reflection in the window.

edit: Oooh ooh I did it again! Spin from N W S E, then the flash comes up, click on 108, then go from there. Should work.

If you move the cursor outside of the compass to about E-SE, you'll see a weathered map with some numbers.

EDIT: Heh. It's at 108 degrees. that makes sense Smile

edit edit: There's also a string written along the side: looks like DI1FFTR751
- although that first 1 might be something else.

I saw the flash, too. Like some sort of yellowed paper with numbers? It went by too fast, I didn't get a good look.
EDIT: got it! this seems big, so I'll post all I've found here.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The paper is marked with degrees. At 108(a little below east) there's a button with rollover that shows the paper. Clicking brings you a black background and a popup with some odd tect about sun microsystems and a question: ARE YOU ONE OF THE GOOD ONES? Y/N: Typing n takes you to the bios pages. Typing y brings you to http://www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/usr/ , apparently the Hanso documents server. The only ones accessible are pthompso/ (Peter Thompson) and hmcintyr/ (Hugh McIntyre). I haven't gotten a good look at the contents, yet. Intrestingly, ahanso/ takes you to the bios page.

Those are the conspicuous numbers tattoed on all the Dharma brand food products in the hatch.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
www.letyourcompassguideyou.com/usr Click on Hugh's name. I don't get it, but I am sure some of you out there will be able to crack it.

And by the way, if you answer "N"o when asked, the site will take you back to the Bios section of THF.org

Code at 108 degrees reads: DI9FFTR731

Maybe this is the next password on the Hanso site?

Anybody dig any deeper?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
if you click on the 108, a little login screen pops up that asks you if you're "one of the good ones (Y/N)"

Not sure exactly how to say "Y", but I was able to advance this twice. "Thank you, and namaste" pops up, and then you're brought to a new screen.

You're brought to a screen that's apparently supposed to be inside Hanso's mail server. There's a list of about 15 folders, with only three active:

> HMcintyr: Clicking Hugh's link brings you into a directory of files, most of which seem to be inconsequential. Click on the Mail folder here, and you're brought to a series of documents, including a link to a Video on YouTube featuring a "Jeep Hatch". Curious, until you go to Thompson's inbox.

> Pthompso: Thompson's inbox has a few memos between Hanso & Daimler Chrystler... they were apparently negotiating to buy a fleet of cars, and then D.C. backed out due to some incident.

WTF? Sprite and now Chrystler?

Why am I starting to feel like I'm watching A Christmas Story? "DRINK YOUR OVALTINE"

> Ahanso: Doesn't bring up a mail directory, just dumps you onto the Hanso bio on the corporate site. Are we to expect that Alvar doesn't have a mailbox on this system?

Interesting update, or veiled Chrystler commercial? YOU MAKE THE CALL.
[/spoiler]

A little way around the site there's a .mov file, think in Hugh's mail folder somehwere.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In the advert it shows a statue, look closely, it says 'Mouth piece'.

Mr McIntyre's log in is 'themouthpiece' Very Happy

huge update

Whoa, this update is sweet.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

In Peter Thompson's inbox, the X-IMAP is given in binary. The binary translates to: The Mouth Piece

Does not work as Hugh McIntyre password. [edit]Yes it does, I mistyped[/edit]

Did everyone say that they were one of the good people?

You get the option to once you see some black box appear after the 108 Degrees clicking...

You then get through to a file selection page thingy...

And the following folders are accessible..

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Thompson and Mcintyre's (if you can't work out which are theirs from the file names, shame on you).

Alvar's also leads you back to the Bio page.

Thomie and Hugh both have files which are interestingly connecting the purchase and withdrawl from contract of some Jeeps.

In one of the files in Thompson's file (INBOX file) you'll see some binary in a subject header. The binary...

Translates to...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Mouth Piece

Can't find a use for it yet though.

EDIT - I'm aware this is all trout. I was typing it whilst you all were posting it. SHEESH! Razz

If you circle your cursor around the faint outsideedge of the compass slowly, then southeastish the attached picture pops up.

I think 108degrees is clickable too. haven't done so yet, just trying to get the screenshot

so, clicking on 108 degrees does cool things. A console pops up and asks you a fun question! Answer it, and you get a directory listing. certain directories are open, some aren't. Strifey and SickRubik did find this first (afaik), I'm just posting up the working Smile

[EDIT] And here, for your enjoyment, is my first trout ever, and it's for myself!!!

Note to self: posting when everyone else posts is an exercise in futility.
Enjoy the screenshot though! Trout
