Perplex City - Identity? Does anyone know if Perplex City has a flag, a coat of arms, a twinned town on Earth or have some city identity?

Ooooh, twinning would be cool! Like Ankh-Morpork is twinned with Wincanton. Maybe we could set up a town-twinning committee

Identity? Ascendency Point would make a good icon. Perhaps a puzzle on the flag. A city anthem based on the mating call of the tretretretre. We could hold committee meetings over tea and biscuits (or jaffa cakes). Or just drink beer.

to answer your question: no, we know of no fFlag, anthem, coat of arms, or great seal. We do know of a symbolish things, which is really more like a corporate logo:
Being fFor the City Council.

I think the committee meeting refreshments should include Kinder eggs, with the instructions removed from the toys to increase the difficulty of constructing them. And maybe alphabetti spaghetti, to aid in making/solving anagrams.

Identity Well I've suggested twinning Perplex City to cities on Earth to the Sentinel. I've just recieved an autoresponder message.
From perplexcitysentinel:
Quote:
Thank you for writing a letter to the editor. Due to space consideration, we are only able to publish a select few of the letters that we receive, but we do read every one. Keep an eye on future editions of the Sentinel to see if your letter appears.
Best wishes,
The Sentinel Staff
The logos used by organisations within Perplex City are interesting and diverse. They can be studied for clues for ages to their historical meaning. My fav though is whipsmartice!
Edit:
Well shiver me timbers, I've been published!
No star letter - that deservedly goes to badbarry for his poem. However this takes pride of place for the time being in today's Sentinel.
Quote:
TWINNING
Lend me your Perplexian ears for a moment and contemplate a twinning of a city here on Earth with your very own Perplex City.
It is a cherished Earth tradition to encourage public participation in the promotion of cultural heritage and identity between cities in different countries.
We have many cities for you to choose from, each with their own identity, resulting in a traditional 'way of life' built upon a foundation of history, business, culture and creed.
Already ethereal discussions here on Earth have began, with contributions from myf and Scott that highlight a desire to set up a twinning committee.
One day I hope our cultures can intertwine as a symbol of unity that stretches far beyond the recovery of the cube.
isca, Earth
I wonder if any Perplexians will read it or will they use it for fish and chips wrapping paper?! (I assume they have fish and chips as a fav. takeaway)

I just remember the shock when I was in florida over easter and saw a news article about Kinder Eggs and the fact they've been banned in the US for 10 years or something.

LOL, sounds fun...
Can anyone fill me in on why Kinder stuff is banned in the US? It doesn't make much sense to me.

Banned?!? How can they possibly justify banning the wonder of chocolatey-puzzle-toy goodness that is Kinder eggs? Never mind Duckiemonster's campaign to save blue Smarties, we should fight to have Kinder eggs legalised!
Looking on the internet, it seems they're banned because small kids can choke on the toys. It would seem that other nations are happy to place infants in peril by allowing Kinder eggs, but the good ole US of A prefers to remove this particular hazard whilst permitting all sorts of other potential death-inducing things. Crazy.

They're not banned, they are just uncommon. The only places that I have found to carry them are the more upscale gourmet types of stores.

I found stuff on the US Consumer Product Safety Commission website, which said they were banned. A recall took place in 1997, and there were warnings about them this Easter.

That's the problem with the US. The government (and the parents) is way too worried about the stupid children that they deprive the adults who have made it out of childhood of things that look cool and probably are. I think that George Carlin has it right, "The parents are obsessed with their children and we're saving entirely too many of them. Kids have helmets for everything except jerking off. The kid who eats too many marbles doesn't grow up to have kids of his own." (Slight paraphrasing and mixing of bits may apply)
Then again, we're also the place where it has to say "Warning: Contents May Be Hot" on a cup of HOT coffee because some bitch accidentally spilled coffee on herself and burned herself through 2 layers of clothing.
