In Peter Thompson's Inbox it now has a URL to a google search for binary translators under the binary code. At least I could swear it wasn't there the first time I read it.

I guess the PMs have pretty low expectations for our capabilities.

Isn't that the type of immersion we'd hope for? I'd rather that than an obviously photoshopped image representing a scan from a newspaper clipping.

Possibly, but I also think that the company who made the ad could find a clean copy of the original graphic to put on their site.

There is a clean one. Look in the news section of thf.org and you'll find a link to a clean version.

I got the idea from catherwood in the other thread.

The OTHER thread being this one called "[UPDATE] THF.ORG/Hugh McIntyre" -- see, you need to be logging into the correct website with that password, not the Compass one.

BTW, that advice i gave was only for getting the password box to show up. To get the password to work, people have reported that you may need to activate some portions of the Compass site to trigger THF.org site to proceed. Plus, it appears to set a variable ONLY for www.thehansofoundation.org -- if you omit www, the password is not accepted, according to reports.

What happens when you enter 'the mouthpiece' 'themouthpiece' or whatever it is correctly?

Go to that thread where you'll see some screen shots.

No need to get pissy. I was just trying to help the guy out.

DI9FFTR731

has anyone found out what this exactly means and why it is in the compass?

here's what i know...

Season 2 (2x13) Spoiler:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it's the number that's printed on ALL the food that is in the hatch.

i haven't tried any anagrams for it but i was trying to figure it out. i'm probably going way out on a limb here with this.

I did a search for the letters and DFFTR stands for Differential Time Relay. It's some sort of mathematical equation that calculates the spread of disease.

The numbers 731 make me think of Unit 731. The Japanese human experimentation during WWII.

Now, on the THF.org, it says that Hanso got his start in WWII....ALSO under active projects, they have the Mathematical Forecasting Initiative...which talks calculating the spead of disease...

This might be way out there, but maybe the plane crashed on a small Japanese island (on the compass website when you put your cursor to the south it freaks out...electormagnitism from the south...in other words, the plane must have been traveling north from australia) and Hanso (which is a Japanese name...think Hattori Hanzo from Kill Bill) is running tests on the island by spreading disease through the food.

hmm i don't know. I'm probably looking way too much into this.
but also,

Season 2 (2x13) Spoiler:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
when Hurley and Sayid listen to the radio in the island, it picks up WWII type music.

Maybe they're trapped in a space-time continuum?

any ideas?

Season 2 (2x13) Spoiler:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
On the episode where Hurley and Sayid were tuning the radio, call letters can be heard by the DJ. I can't remember what they are, but I think it was a station out of Hawaii that broadcasts to the US troops in Pearl Harbor. And, the DJ said something about an oldie.

Time travel has been debunked by Damon and Carlton on the official podcast.

I do think that you are on the right track with the Differential Time Relay. It was been speculated that the food is somehow drugged. This code may be a genetic marker in the drug that can be found in the blood stream of an infected patient. That way they can track which infection spreads from each individual expirament.

On a totally separate subject, the MISSINGORGANS thing; maybe it's supposed to be "missing org, ans"? If you remove "org" and "ans" from thehansofoundation.org, you get "the ho foundation," which seems to align with Persephone's opinion of them.

This is the funniest thing I've read so far. Laughing
Very nice idea, hehe.
But I think "missing organs" is more than just a message, because it pops up in various places, already.

Persephone placed that phrase on the page, that much is certain. I spoiler it, because people still might want to find those things for themselves.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

It was hidden next to the Bermuda Triangle spot and the name in binary for the *.jpg on McIntyres mailbox which includes "the mouthpiece" written on it. The map was obviously manipulated by Persephone. The Jeep ad paper is Hugh's property, but there is no doubt that P. wrote "the mouthpiece" on it and I guess we have to assume that she changed the file's name as well.

So, from a game-logical point of view I almost doubt that "missing organs" is the password for the Board of Directors...what do you think?
Because those text boxes have been there all along. But perhaps P. is spilling this password she knows about...
This argument is moving in circles, then.

I know, this only partially belongs into this thread, but since it was a quote to begin with I had to put the rest here, too.

But...you can't be serious? All this has been figured out in this thread, you should read it. Wink

Perhaps someone with more computer knowledge than I can explain this...

So I've been nosing around the lycgy/usr/ directory trying to figure out what's what.

I observed the neat trick involving being able to access hmcintyr/bak/dcx_rfp.doc and /bak/dcx_contract.doc (which take you to the documents that we've already seen in peter thompson's folder -- not sure what that's supposed to mean).

So then I started looking at Peter Thompson's directory.. and if I am doing this correctly, pthompso/bak/ and pthompso/bin/ folders do exist but for some reason they don't show up in the directory listing under /usr/pthompso (although they do in hmcintyr). I think they exist because I get a "Error 403/Access Forbidden" message rather than a "Not Found" message which is what I get if I try to access, say, /tmittelw/bak/.

so it seems to me if we knew of a filename that would be in P Thompson's backup folder then we could access it in the same way, perhaps?

You are right, they do exist, but as with McIntyre's folders, there is no access. And that wouldn't change if you knew a file's name, because that directory is blocked for you (well, if it wasn't just a normal page, that is Rolling Eyes ).
I think nothing will happen here in the future, but who knows.

Also, in H. McIntyre's mail, there is a newspaper clipping. If you look closely, there is some text that appears to be the side effect of the scanning of the document. However, after isolating the darker colors, I was able to decipher two messages:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

If you are one, know one
and
Happy Mother's Day

I think you guys, as in those of you with photoshop or other programs that can view stuff better, need to check out this clipping better. It's been discussed that it's probably the backside of the newspaper, but still this may be a clue.

I say this because there is clearly more faded backwords writing similar to these two phrases. Directly underneath the words "know one" there's a work or two. It's behind the text "www.the." But there are actually several lines of small text throughout. Most visible is text by the margins at the top of the page, a few lines of text between the article title and the body, and a few lines of text under where it says "Happy Mother's Day."

Has all of this faded backwards text been ruled out as a possible clue?

It is just what was on the other side of the newspaper. They have the same newspaper page here, except they ripped it out a little nicer.

As a UK viewer, I don't know much about Season 2 yet, but Desmond has presumably been eating the food, and isn't infected - at least not in the 'about to die' sense as far as we can tell by episode 4! The food could still be drugged though - mind bending or whatever, or have a marker of some sort.

It's the woman from the intro video on The Hanso Foundation website. Not sure if there's any particular significance - may just be the designers' way of visually tieing the sites together.
