That's both sad and frustrating. Not only because now the winner will most likely be someone who buys that, but also because there are people who played the quest just so they could make some money by doing stuff like this.

My time was between 25 and 30 minutes. With these videos, though, I'm sure someone will get it in like 10 minutes. Rolling Eyes

Let the lawsuits begin. Let's hope that if someone cheats in this manner google will be able to connect them to this ebay auction and disqualify them from any prize.

I think the person that will win is the person that got 3-4 cryptexes by having their whole family play, etc. Crytpexes could have been shipped to different locations to prevent google from catching on, but if someone were to have multiple entries, not only can they get answers, but they can get answers for the puzzles that have multiple versions.

well I blew the splotches one.. had to redo it twice because I couldn't figure out which one was number twelve.. (did it as number two the third time and it worked fine..)

did pretty well on the jigsaw, two minutes I think.. not fast enough to win, but that's gonna go to some cheater anyways.. I had a good time though (solved the sudoku on my own, even though every solution is the same)

Hey, for the jigsaw puzzle, You can pull them to the bottom margin. It allows for room for a whole piece, to help with the outside pieces. Also they go a little to the left side. The top and right aren't as much, but maybe there too?

Anyway, I think I did it all in a resonable time. Smile Heh, if I win, whoever runs that googlefact blog site, I'll send him one of the prizes or something. If nothing else, he can have my cryptex. I voted for the dog too. It really is cute!

Anyway, I also noticed that you didn't have to 'log in' or anything. I was logged into my google account through gmail, but I was before on the previous puzzles, and it still asked for confirmation. Anyone else encounter this?

I hate to burst your bubble, but "sales tax" has nothing to do with the taxes owed by the winner. The value of the prize is taxed as ordinary income. That's about $40k to the taxman.

Frankly, I never expected to win because there are a LOT of better puzzle-solvers than me, and I was okay with that. But it completely sucks that the winner is going to end up being someone who cheated.

I have seen times of under 2 minutes posted. That was someone who not only used multiple accounts, but solved the final puzzles at his leisure on one account while running a keylogger, then ran the script to play on his other account.

Congrats, bang-up job.

With this I think it is possible to have even a 2-3 minute entry!

Richard Hatch was just sentenced to prison for not paying taxes on his Survivor winnings. You will owe federal INCOME tax and state INCOME tax (except in those states with no state income tax - move to Florida!).

NOOOOOO I never even thought of that. There are keyloggers that can record where mouse clicks are? Wow.
