[NEW SITE] Silburn-Griggs Mines it's here and it's unbelievably, deliciously awful. Hopefully with some clues and usefulness hidden somewhere amongst the drek too.
Pages include:
About the Mines,
the money-raising campaign
Old mine Traditions
Information on slde-style Mining Life
A *ahem* lovely poem entitled Dangers
and a collection including maps which I'm sure will be of no use to anyone
The Brotherhood of the Six web designer must be quaking in his boots.

This looks exactly like the sort of websites we get about mines and stuff anyway so it fits right in

Attached is this word document that tries to log all of the grammar and spelling errors on the site (and there are a lot).
I highlighted the spelling errors in yellow in case the missing letters are supposed to signify something.
There are some grammar things that could be spelling errors. I'm not quite sure.
If there is anything I missed, please edit and upload a better copy eh?
[Edit] I changed two things I missed.
One was found by batgirl is the double perhaps in the 2nd paragraph of Mining Life.
I also found on the Collection page that "peaces" was mispelled. The updated version is now attached to this post.

Initial thoughts as to key on map:
S - Shaft (S1, S2 & S3)
E - Entrance (E1)
L - Levels (L0, L1, L2, L3 & L4)
There's indication of the South (S) & North (N) side to the mine
CH - current spec that it could be Methane (CH4) often present in mining, explosive and a tad dangerous
A - Spec to be Airshaft
D/S - Spec is rife! a few possibles Drill Strage, Drive Shaft (!) - D/S is mentioned in mining docs Googled but no indication as to what it abbreviates.
Also unsure of the shaft that points to what looks to be 17 at the bottom left - poss link to further Silburn-Griggs Sites.
Small squares in the shafts still to be determined.
The Unfiction crew were hard to find
in the mines
in the mines
They all used Picks that made them blind
in the mines
o in the mines....

Silburn-Griggs Mines What is the repeated background image on the home page? - an aerial photo of the mine? mineral deposits? Batcave?

The Traditions page...
Quote:
The miners devised clever ways of navigating in the dark such as acoustic signal systems and made use of the mines unique magnetic fields. Secret codes voice activated switchs and ideosyncratic m,achines were used
Sounds like tomorrow will be busy, busy, busy...

That is a horrible site. But the mention of chemical leeks made me giggle.

Hey ThusQED - I've spotted a couple that you missed on your file:
The repetition of the word perhaps at the end of the 2nd to last paragraph on Mining Life
Quote:
These were the best paid workers, often old miners who had worked for many years and perhaps been disabled in accidents perhaps.
Spelling of the word pieces on the 2nd paragraph of Collection
Quote:
we would like to raise money to restore these peaces to their orginal condition.
I haven't been able to make anything of them yet though...

I'd guess at the errors being baecause the standard of support being the site is quite poor (TINAG) or simply that it was done to look that way (TIAG). But then I'm nearly always wrong...
I suspect the key bit is the map, and the hints at codebreaking and voice syth coming up.

The only definition I've found of D/S is dynamic/static from here
I'm dubious though as this is nuclear mining as oppose to copper mining...!
Maybe we're way off still... spec it might be something specific to these mines and their traps.. like you shouldn't wear green or something there...! Though I'm sure this won't be as easy as them handing us locations of the puzzles/traps on a map.
[EDIT] Actually maybe they have handed us the locations of the puzzles/traps... spec is that what those little squares are?!

Seems to me that we shouldn't take this business of "wearing" colors too literally. It's probably just the way that the miners remembered a color sequence of some importance -- color-coded buttons or signposts or something. Talking about what colors people wore is just an easy way to work those colors into the song without coming right out and saying what they're for.
