RE: thevirginlady@yahoo.com email

Interesting that most "got" the virginladySPLATyahoo.com. I was given that email too but only after I had already written to hailmaryfullofgraceSPLATyahoo.com. (I did write that email also - no reply from either yet)

Would it be possible for someone to tell me how they solved that puzzle and obtained thevirginlady email addy. thanks

Team Noah Boddy posted this to the Yahoo! board, and I think it warrants reposting here:

Greetings, everyone!

As Week Three ends and the discussion rages (GREAT discussion and
team-work today, btw) we at Team Noah Boddy have decided there are a
few comments that we should make regarding hints and weekly clues.

First, in case it is not yet clear to everyone, the game adds hints
each week. Those hints each point to a specific weekly clue. Hints
are for that week alone and will not transfer to the next week (ie.
each week's clues are self-contained within that week).

Second, it is NOT necessary to solve each and every hint each week.
Granted, it is our goal to create hints that can and will be solved,
but as pointed out in our poll, we have also tried several different
levels of hints in the past two weeks to see which work best with the
players. You, the player, do not need to solve every hint--you
merely need enough hints to point you towards a specific weekly clue.

Finally, a specific comment on this week's hints. There are three
different specific hints this week--word search, moon puzzle, tile
puzzle. You do not need to solve all of them to decipher the weekly
clue--take what you can solve and look at thematic ideas from the
story, and the weekly clue should be clear.

that looks like a plausible solution, which i shall confirm momentarily. For now, I take it to be referring to the lyrics of "Lullaby of Broadway"

Come on along and listen to, the lullaby of Broadway
The hip hooray and ballyhoo, the lullaby of Broadway

http://www.geocities.com/the_notables/Lullaby_of_Bway.html

another "after dark melody" perhaps?

Lullaby Lyrics

This is my first post. I've been playing the whole time, but thought I never had anything to contribute until now. If the tile puzzle is solved, I found the song that the lyrics "Hip Hurray and Ballyhoo" go to-- The Lullaby of Broadway!

LULLABY OF BROADWAY
Dorsey Brothers Orchestra

Come on along and listen to, the lullaby of Broadway
The hip hooray and ballyhoo, the lullaby of Broadway
The rumble of a subway train, the rattle of the taxis
The daffydils who entertain, at Angelo's and Maxi's
When a Broadway baby says good night, it's early in the morning
Manhattan babies don't sleep tight until the dawn:

Good night, baby
Good night, milkman's on his way
Sleep tight, baby
Sleep tight, let's call it a day. Hey!

Come on along and listen to, the lullaby of Broadway
The hi-dee-hi and boop-a-doo, the lullaby of Broadway
The band begins to go to town, and everyone goes crazy
You rock-a-bye your baby round, 'til everything gets hazy
Hush-a-bye I'll buy you this and that, you hear a daddy saying
And baby goes home to her flat, to sleep all day:

Good night, baby
Good night, milkman's on his way
Sleep tight, baby
Sleep tight,
Let's call it a day - - -
Listen to the lullaby of old Broadway

So my thinking is the clue is "lullaby" or something along those lines.

LL

Since we're being pushed to lullabies and such as the clue this week, we might try working the moon numbers backwards.

It's likely that they are some sort of 'book' cypher regarding the Rev's 11/12 entry. There are eight sets of numbers on the left (right) side and nine on the right (left) side, for a total of seventeen letters. There also happen to be eight letters in 'melodies' and nine in 'after dark' for a total of seventeen.
Could the moon numbers have given us 'melodies after dark' or 'after dark melodies' again?

The highest "moon number" is 51 and there are 52 squares. It looks like only 7 is repeated. I've tried several ways of counting the squares but haven't decoded anything using the moon numbers. Has any one else tried this?

It all leads to the song by Harry Warren...nice to know that I spec'd out Lullaby before anyone else!!! ABOUT TIME!!! LOL...

Great teamwork and solve boys and girls!

Humor me though, can anyone explain the damn Moon Numbers puzzle now and how to solve? I see the answer Rex, but what was the method?

From reading through the yahoo group. I don't think anyone actually worked the puzzle. But rather figured it out from the "hip hooray" clue. Atleast we have the answer even if we don't know exactly how we were supposed to get it. Wink

Re: moon numbers solution SPOILER

why does that look more like a solution than this:
Quote:
M...A
E...F
L...T
O...E
D...R
I...D
E...A
S...R
-...K

when someone suggested this lower mapping, no one threw up their hands and shouted, "it's solved!" -- so why is the first mapping taken as a solution?

The word search grid puzzle didn't hand us LULLABY(E) on a platter. I would expect this puzzle to give another round-about hint to the weekly clue, such as "Brahm's" or "rock-a-bye baby".

I think we could all benefit from seeing the solution explained and worked out in the open, not because we *need* this particular hint, but because it would be good training to see how the minds of our puzzle setters work. Thank you.

moon puzzle hint

see my post at yahoo

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/noahboddy/message/1392

sorry i dont feel like going into a long explaination, i have a very bad sinus headache right now, but basically i stared at it for a long time, playing with the number pairs (i started with the repeats like 5 7 7 and 45 23 23 so as to eliminate possibilities) until i found several letters and realized the solution.
