[Spec] Maybe... Jason got the job as a librarian and noticed violet looking at/researching the granier diary... then he told the 3p who got miranda/caroline to take the job... it was so quick it seemed like they they joined at the same time[/spec]

Except that the timing is off. While Violet had asked to see the diary, she had not yet been successful because she was not an author (hence we wrote the book). Now, the press announcement from Seaside Press went out the previous day (Dec 5), but Violet said the Miranda and Jason were hired the previous week (implying Dec 1 or 2).

Now, it is possible [spec] that someone at the museum is reporting to 3P. But if that's the case, why did they allow the credentialed author work-around, and when it became apparent that we were credentialling Violet (announcement of the book was Dec 5, approval was Jan 3), why wouldn't they put up another barrier (or stage a protest/attack on the diary)? Is Jason is just going to fade into the woodwork because his purpose as a distraction from Miranda done?[/spec]

Since this topic seems to be going mildly off course, I can only join in although I will order my paragraphs in increasing relevancy to the original topic.

I, too, greatly enjoy Jasper Fforde's books and often wonder past the F section in Borders on the off chance of a new one. Now, however, I can walk past the puzzle cards and starter packs and force myself to remember what the word budget means.

Slightly more relevantly, I have suffered an inexplicable fear of librarians most of my life although it has to be said that all the ones I have ever met have been lovely. The weirdest thing is that in choosing a career to pursue after university, librarianship looks kind of interesting. I may just have to be afraid of myself.

Even more relevantly, Violet may well be evil. I once again bring up [TIAG] what is either a highly significant plot point or MC's most bizarre mistake [/TIAG] - the disappearing blog post. Not that I like mentioning it or anything.

Now for the only really serious relevant bit, I don't think Jason's evil. Or at least no more than I suspect random people I meet in the street. Ok, so maybe I do suspect him a lot, but he doesn't seem to have done anything wrong so I'm willing to give him a chance.

I'm glad you did mention it, as I had not seen it before. Of course, looking back on it, unless you are planning a SERIOUSLY long time advance (see: Manchurian Candidate), wouldn't you have used her privileged position vis a vis us by now?

[spec] Unless of course the Recons and the Third Power are the two organizations that went to steal the cube two years ago. In that case, having us help take out (first from position, then life) of a Third Power agents makes a lot of sense. [/spec]

Grr, I have gotten spoiled with the multiple messages/things happening a day. How long does it take to translate two sentences of a text you have already translated 6 pages full of material?! *grumps*

That's why I like mentioning it - it's not the kind of thing you find out looking back over past events. Every time we send Violet on a mission I hope she turns out to be recon spy but she does seemed to have proven herself so far and we haven't heard a peep out of the recons in ages, they were such a damp squib. Although she is still a librarian. Of course, the best thing would be for her to be revealed as a recon/3P spy/robotic replacement in the endgame when we find the cube, and then the next task for the cube hunters will be to find the real Violet. If that happens, I shall be very pleased. [/unrelated spec]

That's why we have the Unsolved Mysteries wiki page...

Duly added, only to be lost amidst the many many other things we don't know.
