[NEW] familytrack.net connected (?)

I need some verification on this. I have not proven this myself.
A few people are claim to have foundn this in the swf of the Hanso Foundation site:
http://www.familytrack.net/listing.php

I don't know if it is there, because, well, to be honest, I am too lazy to go through the swf... or even figure out how to extract it.

I do know that it is not a real buisness. If you go to http://www.familytrack.net, you see a 'This site is for sale' jpg. Manipulate that. I just stuck it in iPhoto and changed the levels. Put the Swan Dharma logo is in there.

You folks are obviously the experts at ARGs, so I pass it to you to disprove or prove. At the very least it will give you a break from hole2.

I thought that was part of The Punisher ARG.

The PM's that are running this one might have run that one and put (or accidentally left) the reference.

For what it's worth, I see what you mean. I'm attaching the manipulated logo below, revealing our familiar Swan.

I recall seeing this 'familytrack' thing being mentioned over at another blog following the game [hunts around for a bit] ah here it is, from the comments section for "Clue # 27" at The Lost Experience Clues. From a commenter "mark s" who was apparently going through the SWF files himself: "I think we'll also see something about 'familytrack' later in the game Wink" This was back on May 8, so apparently it's been there a while..

Well...I didn't believe it before.

I did some basic crap in Paint (I'm at work and limited by what I've got installed) and didn't see anything.

Then I saw dante's post and decided to try again. Even in Paint if you go and do a fill anywhere in the background, but not where the DHARMA symbol would be (upper right or left hand corner, say) and do a fill you can see the outline. Click some more inside and you can see bits and pieces. I'm sure a real Photoshopper could tell exactly what you need to change to find it (levels, contrast, etc.)

I WHOIS'ed the site and the registrant makes it really look like it's OOG.

Interesting because it's Finland, but still looks OOG. It's registered thru a company called domainsite, so I went there and used their WHOIS, it comes up with all the same info but has something more telling:

Quote:
Expiration Date: 2007-05-04
Creation Date: 2006-05-04
Last Update Date: 2006-05-23

It was updated *yesterday!*

It also has an image of what the site looks like last time they indexed it, and it does indeed look different than the current version (the 'For Sale' was red and larger.)

Intriguing but doesnt prove it's in game.

(Edit...had originally said 'Fiji.' Dunno why, .fi is Finland. Duh.)

Now knowing about Punisher, I don't know. It definitely looks like they let the site die and then registered it recently... and then updated it yesterday. This may be the PMs just being cute. But it is something to watch at the very least.

I sent a message to them through their contact form. We'll see if anyone replies.

BTW - There is nothing of interest in the source.

A though occured to me that the code was left in from The Punisher and then a fan registered the site because it had expired.

I'm a spriter on the side, so I knew exactly how to find this. Use the eyedropper to get the normal background color in the secondary color slot. Hit ctrl+a to select the entire form, then ctrl+x to cut it. Fill the background in with some non-white color, then hit ctrl+v to paste the image you deleted. If you still don't see it, you need to click the bottom of the two transparency settings on the left toolbar, under all the buttons. This should get you this

Any idea what to put in the entry field?

This seems like the Widmore site where you have to enter stuff to get in. Has anyone figured that out either?

It's there. I just now went to the website, pasted the image into photoshop, and played with the levels. A quite clear DHARMA swan logo is there, just like in the picture linked above.

This clearly doesn't, however, imply that this site is connected to TLE... It could just be someone having some fun.

it's been in the flash for ages, i haven't posted about it because i can't see it being in the game(at least for now). on http://www.familytrack.net/listing.php it used to say something like "well done on decompiling the flash Wink" i took that as an out of game message. that sort of message suggest that at a minimum we shouldn't have found it yet.
