[website] mythosphere.org

mythosphere.org has been updated. There's now a link on the front page to another page with some more hidden links.

I've been checking the source on Mythosphere, and it seems the links are to 1.html through 6.html.

Ok on pages m1-6.html there are links to each of the pages in the text referred by letters in the words. There are also access keys that will take you to the referred page by pressing ALT+ the access key.

So i went through all the pages and wrote down there AK(access keys) and the linked letter in the words with the page they are linked to. Every link has both a AK letter and a hyperlinked(?) letter associated with it.

The format is
Ak=(a letter) M?.html=(a letter)

Where AK=(a letter) is the access key for the following url.
And the letter after m?.html is the hyperlinked letter for that same link.
I copied them in order from top to bottom in the pages source.

Code:
Page m1.html

AK=c m2.html=a
AK=p m3.html=h
AK=l m4.html=f
Ak=o m5.html=m
AK=e m6.html=c

__________________________________________
Page m2.html

AK=n m3.html=b
AK=m m4.html=e
AK=t m5.html=r
Ak=z m6.html=n
AK=q m1.html=m
AK=u m2.html=o
AK=z m3.html=x

___________________________________________
Page m3.html

AK=r m4.html=f
Ak=j m5.html=h
AK=x m6.html=t
AK=q m1.html=a
AK=s m2.html=i
AK=i m4.html=e

Page m4.html

AK=g m5.html=a
Ak=f m6.html=d
AK=t m1.html=f

I got waylaid researching the different quotes... glad I checked back here before starting a table on the 'links' to m#.html.... definitely looks like a puzzle.... guess we don't need the quote origins, huh? But once again thanks to CTW I am learning more about mythology Laughing

not sure if this will trigger any ideas.... some things of 'interest':
1) m2 is the only one that links to itself
2) m1, m4 have no double references
3) m2, m3, m5 have one each with two references
4) m6 has two with two references
5) the access key doesn't seem to correlate with the letter where AK is duplicated except twice (AK= J, Ltr = h goes to m5 and AK = r, Ltr = f goes to m4)

PS: I have it in an excel table but it doesn't paste here well.... not sure if it would help you?

I noticed a pattern in the number of the pages M# corresponding to the links on each page.

For instance the first link on page goes to m2.html, the first link on page m2 goes to m3.html, first on page m3 goes to m4.html, and so on.
This also goes for the other links on each page (second, third link etc).
The page numbers all go up in number sequentially in respect to the number of link on the page.

Edit: Also there are 36 links spread out over 6 pages. Although some pages have less than 6 and some have more. But it seems like more than a coincidence.

Edit#2: Here are the AK's and the hyperlinked letters in 6*6 squares

AK's
Code:
cploen
mtzquz
rjxqsi
gftqzn
govuzt
gcrjzy

Hyperlinks
Code:
ahfmcb
ernmox
fhtaie
adfmbl
ckhoxp
cyfhxo

Doesn't look good. :/

The quotes on the page - should we look into those or is it just a waste of time? I recognize quite a lot of them ...

I dunno. But if anyone finds a good translation of the... Archaic Dutch? from the Man in the Moon page, I'd be interested in knowing what it is.

Night Goddess...

In Greek mythology, NYX (Nux, Nox) was the personification of the night, who rode on a chariot led by 2 horses, drawing the night as she went. She was the daughter of Khaos (air) and the mother of Aither (light) and Hemera (sp?) (day) and Zeus was even afraid of her.

So the phrase "sense the aether" would literally mean "see the light".

This is what I had found.... 'just in case'....

home page:

The Gates of Horn and Ivory from Virgil's epic poem The Aeneid. The gates mentioned in that poem lead to the realm of the Dream Lord Morpheus. Morpheus is also known as the Sandman.

Research finds information re: Penelope and the Oneiroi: http://www.theoi.com/Daimon/Oneiroi.html

m1.html

has a quote from Joesph Campbell 'Pathways to Bliss' found in a 'review' here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/1577314719/104-2855601-0259118

then a quote from a Orpheus Hymn to the Goddess Prothyraea (Diana) found: http://www.religionfacts.com/greek_religion/library/orpheus_hymns.htm

followed by a paragraph about Mt Olympus and the Olympus camera

m5.html
Several quotes from Charles Fort 'New Lands' : http://www.sacred-texts.com/fort/lands/lands101.htm

m6.html

first a quote from Rolland Barthes on Mythology: http://www.georgetown.edu/faculty/irvinem/theory/Barthes-Mythologies-Myth_Today-1984-2.html

followed by a quote from OEDIPUS REX": The Play: http://www.bibliomania.com/0/6/279/2002/26605/1/frameset.html

excerpt from a letter Tolkien wrote to a Michael Straight, then editor of The New Republic. Straight wanted to review LOTR and had sent Tolkien a list of questions to answer: http://www.sheilaomalley.com/archives/000736.html

Samuel Butler's Erewhon, Chapter 18:http://www.hoboes.com/html/FireBlade/Butler/Erewhon/erewhon18.html

m2.html

a reference to Elias Grail "THE story of the Knight of the Swan was a very popular legend, and was related with many variations of incident, time, and place. Its hero is designated variously as Lohengrin, Elias Grail, Gerard Swan, Helias, and Salvius Brabo." All which relate to Arthurian Literature

Lohengrin is the son of Parzival (Percival). He arrives in a boat pulled by swans to rescue and marry a maiden, but must leave her when she asks his identity. His story is a version of the Knight of the Swan legend.

And another 'dutch-like' quote (tried a translation for dutch but didn't quite do it)

m3.html
First a quote that can be found in a paper discussing mythology here: http://www.crystalinks.com/mythology2.html

m4.html

tells of Orpheus (not first mention of him so far)… http://homepage.mac.com/cparada/GML/Orpheus.html

a passage from a Sioux legend 'Story of the Lost Wife' http://www.ilhawaii.net/~stony/lore145.html

then from 'The Story of Atrahasis': http://faculty.gvsu.edu/websterm/Atrahasi.htm

It is indeed archaic Dutch... we were discussing it in IRC last night, although I can't remember what it means... something about a swan King and a knight.

Looks like just a hotch-potch of quotes from places about mythological stuff and things.

Which means the real puzzle is in the page names. That cannot be a coincidence there are numbers and letters.

Looking at the letters I noticed this:

The AK letter is always higher than the corresponding hyperlink (HL) letter (except for one instance) and the shift between them is always an even number:
Code:
HL  AK  shift
a   c   2
h   p   8
f   l   6
m   o   2
c   e   2

b   n   12
e   m   8
r   t   2
n   z   12
m   q   4
o   u   6
x   z   2

f   r   12
h   j   2
t   x   4
a   q   16
i   s   10
e   i   4

a   g   6
d   f   2
f   t   14
m   q   4
b   z   24

l   n   2
c   g   4
k   o   4
h   v   14
o   u   6
x   z   2

p   t   4
c   g   4
y   c   4 (-22)
f   r   12
h   j   2
x   z   2
o   y   10

Maybe this will spark an idea with someone..

Never mind. Figured it out:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
For each pair take the letter that is exactly in the middle between them to get: blind history living demon memory realiyt
I think the last bit is supposed to be reality, must have been a transcription error somewhere

Delusional figured out that these words lead to new pages.

These pages are probably related to their 'source' pages.

Ha! Just took a little nudge. Good job!

Why is Florida mentioned in the "reality" page?

How will this relate to CTW2? Technically, if we were just using the comic book to discover websites, then we would not know about Mythosphere. Which leads me to SPEC: Perhaps these are just Dave's little fun & games?
