Upon close inspection, the characters are separated into groups. A 'group' has all it's characters adjacent to the next. But there are 1 pixel wide breaks bewteen certain characters. I'll attach an illustration.

I don't think this is anthing to be particularly concerned about. Check out the capital I in i2 and i3 - it's always had a 1px gap on either side and it seems that lower-case 'z', 'h', 'x' and 'y' are 4px wide. Seems pretty consistant to me.

check out this, from the HTML source for the main page:

Code:
<input type="hidden" name="__VIEWSTATE" value="dDwyMDY1NTIwNzM1Ozs+mUPIfvct33x8rGnrbRqh93b6J3Q=" />

This difference between that and i4 is just the numbers, and the +.

btw, the "kiri" number is at its lowest that I've ever seen - .09. oh wait, it just went up to .13

http://slashdot.org/~3389363/ is a user, with an xccr link for a webpage, but no other clues. I don't know what the deal with the 11+ might be.

http://slashdot.org/~113389363/ is also a valid user we discovered a day or so ago. Supposedly he was there to help us move past problems decoding i2.

I knew I had seen that string from somewhere -_-.
I believe that he probably just wanted to show the way in which to find mr. 113389363 and 3389363 is just a decoy. Though the problem with this is that string has, as far as I've noticed, been there from the beginning. Which means that there should be something more with this, maybe.
Also, the score for this image is 0.5, which would mean it's something similiar to i3, an extra unplanned hint.
Feels like there is way too many ways to look at this, too random.

Also what about that "v" and "s" in i1? If that is supposed to mean "versus", then the "missions" so far is i0=Find the other "team", i1=competition?, i2&i3&i4=Find mr. 227664 too find tfeyet.

well, according to this,

Code:

i0    [1]   1.00   Y   18-May-2006 08:42   U   10364
i1    [1]   2.00   Y   23-May-2006 01:52   U   10364
i2    [1]   2.50   Y   24-May-2006 01:38   U   800
i3    [1]   0.50   Y   24-May-2006 00:06   U   10364
i4    [1]   0.50   Y   25-May-2006 12:49   U   0

You solved it! Good job...

not that it gave us any new clues...of course, it was just a .5 pointer.

So, here's what we do know. "Him" is tfeyet, and his UID (974444) is "the answer". We've cracked each of the 5 images we've been presented so far -- the first two were to let us know we're competing against the sos-dan board (although they haven't really been keeping up...), and the next three were to lead us to tfeyet, although in theory we should have been able to do it with just the third one. The fifth one also seems to have some additional meaning that we haven't cracked yet, having something to do with the string dDwyMDY1NTIwNzM1Ozs+mUPIfvct33x8rGnrbRqh93b6J3Q.

Here's what we're pretty sure of, but we haven't gotten confirmation on yet. first, those 5x5px images that get displayed are a map. the gaps in them are the "doors" referred to in readme.txt. the tengah number indicates our position. After entering the code 227664, we have the opportunity to move, using the directions. Also, the PM(s) are using slashdot accounts for a lot, and we may not have found them all yet. http://slashdot.org/~dDwyMDYNTIwNzMOzsmUP/ is another one, telling us to "be more creative".

Here's what we don't know. what does this map have to do with the search for tfeyet? what does that string actually mean? and what is the kiri number? we've seen it suddenly jump over 20, drop to under 1, and while it seems to change in response to entering the code, and possibly a key number to "move" in the map, we don't have that relationship nailed down 100%. Also, "What about 422401216364?"

Finally, some wilder questions: does the name xccr or the cyrillic characters in the title mean anything? how about the numbers that show up whenever you enter the code? or are these things just red herrings?

Well... I guess I finally did something right, thanks.
I must say, great job so far you all. I should had said it earlier though...

Nice summary Mercuria. About http://slashdot.org/~dDwyMDYNTIwNzMOzsmUP/ I think he's just another decoy like 3389363, as they seemingly was created at the same time, along with 113389363.
One thing I find strange is that the readme says that he's gonna contact whomever gets past the checkpoint, which he hasn't done yet?
I was thinking that q1.gif was the first checkpoint, but if tfeyet is "him" then apparantly not. True that the i#.gif can be seen as checkpoints, but then what about those who wasn't supposed to be?
Either way, I would think that "What about 422401216364?"=q2
And about the map, it seems like he reset it, as there was just one single open "door" just this moment and the broken one was barely there.
And that "kiri" number seems to be related to the completness of the broken map, as Tamerlane stated somewhere earlier.

Oh and another thing, it seems that 227664 was created "long" after tfeyet, unless there was a large amount of people registering at that moment. As their UIDs are 975093 and 974444, respectively, which could mean there is/was some way to find him directly or he just took a break.

This probably has nothing to do with the game, but I was playing Half-Life 2 this morning and guess what I found:

NOTE: It was in the courtyard in the beginning of the game. And exuse the sub-awesome graphics, but my laptop isn't quite the best out there.

On slashdot there are something between 1200-2000 new registrations per week. The fact that the userIDs differ by 650 or so means they were probably created within 72 hours of each other (likely sooner).

well, I hate to suggest it, but we could just brute-force our way through slashdot id's, e.g. http://slashdot.org/users.pl?uid=897346 .

Heh... way ahead of you... i'm slowly working backward through the UIDs (got a crappy connection).

The only UID of interest in the 970000-977189 userspace that we didn't already know about is http://slashdot.org/~338933/

Personally, I'm taking advantage zoo.pl, which generates a page about half the size of users.pl. It would take a damn long time to go significantly further back, so I'll probably quit for now.

Speaking of /. stuff, there's been a change in tfeyet's profile:
Was:
Code:
tfeyet (974444)
tfeyet
  (email not shown publicly)
http://xccr.com/
My UID is the answer.
But what about 422401216364
Is now:
Code:
tfeyet (974444)
tfeyet
  (email not shown publicly)
http://xccr.com/
My UID is the answer.

Find the checkpoint with more than 0.

But what about 422401216364?

More from June06
