I Tivo'd it and played it back frame by frame. The static was primarily a white background with horizontal black lines on it. I suppose it could possibly have been some sort of code but there didn't seem to be a pattern to it. The lengths of the lines and distances between them looked more or less uniform.

The greenish static and other colors just looked like block noise.

Someone mentioned the static earlier. We dismissed the possibility of there being a code in there as the game has been spoon feeding us clues. I doubt they would jump from obvious clues to encoding a message in static on a tv program.

it continues to boggle my mind how many people read so much into so little.

Amen, Bruddah!!!

What... ultimately... is the goal of all of this?.

The ARG or watching the skit? For me, the goal of the skit is obvious and I have zero problem with his bad performance. It was meant to look fishy for people to actually look into it and I think it properly distanced itself from the show so those who have not been following it and just plan to buy the DVD do not think their experience will be compromised by participating in the game.

There is no point to the "experience." It is not a game. There is no ending - no winner. The experience is not meant to cross over to the show. .

Possibly but where do you get your confidence that they won't give us something for playing?

The singular point and purpose to all of this is to string us along thru the summer again and get us to watch next season. This tells me the producers don't have enough faith in the show to let it stand on it's own as a good product that will bring people back. .

I beg to differ. Websites with how the passengers were pulled out of the plane and theories and people looking at lost frame by frame started BEFORE they even started to include hidden clues in the show. The fans actually pushed the dhow to take it to the next level with an ARG. I would say that the fans of the show LOOKING anywhere they could for clues moved them to an ARG. Certinaly not that they didn't have faith in a top rated show so then HAD to create an ARG in which only a very small fragment of the population could actually admit they know what an ARG is.

The whole concept of the Kimmel thing was to draw new people into the "experience" It was merely cross promotional. More shameless advertising. (And I'll admit that I am dumbfounded that they actually presented a human being on the show)

Honestly I like it when ARGs break new ground. As a Majestic veteran, thats a given. Last call rocked because it broke new ground. Every ARG that reaches out of the box is pretty cool. That said, yeah if they include too many promos in there we complain, we don't play so they adjust.

Regardless... I'm pretty well over the "experience." Sad that they couldn't even hold my attention a week after the fianle aired. gonna be a long summer I suppose.

It hasen't even really started, you give up too easily.

And when all is said and done, this whole thread has gone entirely META. Kimmel isn't "in-game" so much as just another advertisement for the experience. And the discussion is decidedly on-game, not in-game.

I thought you gave up? What do you care? Yeah its in game..personality from the game talking about the fictional world of the game. eg..in game.

Sorry if this was harsh but I was a bit shocked by the post.

Plus, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this the first time in ARG history an in-game character ever appeared on a national talk-show?

Virgil, a character from Art of The Heist, was interviewed live on VH1 last year during E3. But this is the first time a character was on network television.

I don't understand how a television appearance by a character can be anything other than in-game. The character only exists in the game world, so appearance by a character is in-game. Maybe this is an issue of semantics.

And I still think the questions raised by Kimmel as to Hanso Foundation, the location of Alvar Hanso and the funding of Dharma, will turn out to be fundamental questions to the game. I think the substance of the interview will matter down the road.

People in the background

I don't think that Hugh was the main focus of the interview. I think that the people moving around in the background were. The girl in the lab coat looks to me to be the same woman standing next to DJ Dan on his Home page. I didn't get a good look at the man in the lab coat, but what was he working with?

Everything is about circles within circles. I think that the show, the book and the ARG will all tie in together nicely by the beginning of next season.
