Re: yes there ARE stupid questions...

excuse my ignorance, but what's a "regex search".... is it significant that her search engine has that option?

regex stands for REGular EXpressions.. In this context they just mean that it supports regex style expressions for searching...

for example, lets say I had a textfile, and I wanted to only see the phrases: taco, tacobell, and Taco..

In regex that'd be: /[Tt]aco(|bell)/
or: /taco(|bell)/i
or: /taco|tacobell/i

In other words, it a more comlex way of 'matching' text, sorta like wildcards, but with a lot more flexability.

Disclaimer to regex folk: yes, I already know the examples I gave are not the only way to do this, but was easier to read and hopefully understand then the other ones that came to mind

So there is a new character: Todd Rogan

and from Ethan's blog we get:

Hey, do you remember a guy named Todd Rogan? Does that name ring any bells?? Sort of strange, this guy comes up to me in the lobby this morning and asks me how I've been, like he knows me real well. I couldn't for the life of me place him. Weird thing was, he kinda freaked out when I didn't know who he was. Odd, I must have a twin out there somewhere, heheh.

Just tossing out a wild theory here, but could Todd Rogan be one of us? An ARGer, who 'recognised' this Ethan fellow as one of the characters in the game and approached him? I'm not suggested that this *actually* happened, but maybe the PMs are trying to further blur the lines between gameplay and reality.

"Todd Rogan, development manager for Fru Con Development Corp. of St. Louis, an owner of the Oxnard Factory Outlet."

That said, I highly doubt there's a connection. The above is the only hit that google can find. Very Happy

Man, there are so many potential clues here. Dina writes,

"I like routines, in a way, analyzing them. Finding patterns, and then breaking them. I find that I can breathe easier when I can trick the world into thinking I am doing one thing, when I suddenly go random."

And the link to "movable type."

Dina links to a cite about meerkats.

What does it all mean!?!?!

Those of you who played (or still play) Starcraft might remember the cheat code "There is no cow level" If you enter this cheat code you lose the game. This probably hinders your investigation, but just thought I'd point that out. Well, back to discussion.

Yeah, I pointed that out in another thread... and in Diablo II there actually IS a cow level

Another thing that's interesting about this: Once we got into Kat's metadex account, someone mentioned that her notes made it seem as though Kat was trying to get rid of Beth's closest "friends" (her mother and dog) as if she was going to replace Beth with a clone. She would need to be rid of those people (or pets!) that would recognize Beth wasn't Beth anymore. Interesting theory.

Now, we have Dina making references to a "twin out there somewhere."

Just thought I'd mention it.

Pretty sure the "favorite city" is Chicago. They probably live there (btw, wasn't there something at Wongmo's "Dina N, Chicago"?)

Bach and Brahms are first and last in Hans von Bulow's "Three B's" of German classical music, skipping over Beethoven. Bach was from the Baroque era (living into the early classical, and of his 21 children many were composers as well). He lived in several cities, notably Leipzig, Weimar, and Cothen. Brahms was from the romantic era. Beethoven bridged the classical and romantic, and they both lived in Vienna.

Neither of the sheet music examples from Wongmo were of their music, nor of Beethoven's. So I can't think of what this might be a clue to right now - any ideas?

There seems to be a trend with sheet music ideas, between a couple pics, womongo, and now this. I'll look into tonite, put together a "leiphe map" of this stuff.

Well, for some strange reason, I feel a great urge to pinpoint the location at which bach.jpg was taken... I think I've got a pretty good idea.

First of all, proof that it is indeed Chicago:

The above image is taken fromthis panorama.

Now, looking at the general perspective of the original bach.jpg pic (shown in red on the second image), I judged an approximate distance from the Sears Tower and looked it up on Mapquest. As far as I can tell, the picture was taken from the Eisenhower Expressway near the S Ashland Ave. exit, but that's a very general location, and probably not correct. If someone can figure out what the red-circled sign in the first pic says, I'm sure we could get a more exact location.

But for now, this is what I have:

Now I'm not entirely sure on this because I'm not really one who takes notice of my surroundings while driving through Chicago. I'm either driving at the time so I'm trying to avoid crazy drivers or I'm in the passenger seat playing my GBA so that I don't notice the crazy drivers. Wink I lived there for a year and drive through it about twice a month though. I think this is off of the Dan Ryan Expressway(90/94) for a couple of reasons:

1. The white sign to the left of the picture is a Do Not Enter (with the red X) that is above the Express Lanes on the Dan Ryan.

2. East of the Dan Ryan on the Eisenhower, which is where you would see the Sears Tower on Wacker, doesn't have any exits off of it. It just sorta turns into another street after less than a mile. This picture shows two exits and a sign to continue forward on the expressway (partially covered by the truck). I think the sign covered by the truck is the 90/94 to Wisconsin sign.

3. The Sears tower is so massive that this picture doesn't look like it was taken right near it. I mean, it's so big that if you were standing next to it you'd hurt you're neck trying to see the top. I mean this could be 10 blocks away or more. So it could be over on the Dan Ryan.

I don't know what those exit signs are. Maybe Ohio? That's a few exits north of the Sears Tower. Or Adams?

Unfortunately I just made my trip through Chicago for the month last weekend so I won't be going through again for at least two weeks. If we think this is still important and is still unsolved by then I'll bring along my camera and try to find this spot.
