Lets not get our hopes up too soon!
Heck, even the US would have a time advantage!
Well, if it doesn't happen, I'd rather be disappointed (again) *later*, than now (expecting the distribution to remain the same)! *Hope* is a powerful thing! If it turns out that the cards *are* instumental in solving the mystery, and someone from the UK does it *only* because they got the cards before the rest of the world (again), you can count me out for Season 2!

I was kind of hoping that Season 1 would carry on another couple of years, or at least make it past the summer. They would choose this year when I'm insanely busy running round Australia/finding my first meaningful employment. So I'll join you in hoping that not only will it be solvable (and findable - but what are the chances of that!) in Australia but that I'll be able to get enough internet access to follow it. Then again, maybe we'll be really slow and I'll be back long before it's found. (Can you imagine Kurt dropping more and more clues in tpolt until finally just giving us a map and making us race for it?)
Then again, I do get a great big holiday in Australia. That makes me happy. Chance at £100000, great big holiday. I'll stick with the sure thing.

anyone think the packs will contain all 4 waves? i hope they do all wave 4 packs, or maybe mix wave 3 and 4, because otherwise it'll be a nightmare trying to get new cards

I imagine (and hope) they'll do wave 4 only and wave 1-4 mix packs.

They probably will, otherwise its a good way to loose your customer base. people wouldnt want another 10 whipsmart wordsearchs in their collection!
I imagine the wave 3 only will continue till the release of wave 4 then we would get wave 4 only packs.
Pineapple, you could be lucky and the cube may be buried in Australia!

If they sunk on the Barrier Reef, it's mine!
It would be so much fun to end up at just the right place at just the right time through complete coincidence, but knowing me it would be right by my feet and I wouldn't see it. And with no money for cards (owing to big holiday) and no internet access, I wouldn't even have a clue.

Here's the problem with letting it be known that Season one is supposed to end "soonish." If they had kept that under wraps, then they could have released the cards in three flavors:
1. The "Pure" Wave 4 packs
2. The "Newer" Wave 3 & 4 mixed packs
3. The "Complete" Wave 1-4 packs (and maybe bump it up to 8 cards to make up for the fact you would be pulling from a bigger set).
This would mean that you could pull new players in with the "complete" packs, the non-UK distribution could be handled by the "Newer" or "Pure" packs, and the UK distribution could be handled by the "Pure" packs.
However, with the announcement that the season will be ending with the cube's discovery, people are going to be focused on wave 4. Now, it's possible they could have us take a very circuitious route to get to the cube-finding stage (i.e. aiming for it to be found around October or November). That would allow for the above. Still, I'm sure the marketing types at MC have this figured out and don't need my input. *shrug*

From the press release it looks as if there'll be two 'ends' to season 1. The first will be the conclusion of events in Perplex City, the second will be when someone on Earth finds the cube. I'm guessing that season 2 will therefore start regardless.

Thats what I read it as, an end to the season 1 cards and an ent to the season 1 in general as finding the cube.

So season 2 cards won't be related to the story arc?
I think I prefer it like that.

They haven't really been related to this story arc. The initial release was, but since then, there hasn't really been anything to tie the two together.

There was a very rough relation-the game starting picking up once the cards were released. I assumed, for no particular reason I suppose, that the end of wave 4 would coincide with someone finding the cube.

That would rely on us muppets picking up the clues.
As shown down in the mines, we're not amazing at that

Most of us anyway.
I think it will be nice to have found the cube and moved on to something else. It'll be refreshing. Something else to do will vary it up, and keep things from becoming stale.
