Perplex City video reviews

Ok, you're fed up with people plugging their Perplex City videos... so I won't do that. Anyway, I didn't make one.

But I've written some reviews here for everyone's benefit: http://perplexcityvideo.blogspot.com/

The competition will probably be won by the person or people with the best refresh button action, but there are some hidden gems in there (like the Ukranian potato-and-straw animation) that you might have missed, so have a look.

I don't really disagree with any of that-what's your favourite though?

My three are South Park one, The Gravity one and The Children one.

I do list my favourites in the blurb at the start. Anyway, they are the one with loads of puzzles to solve (and a burning mullet) and the LoTR one with the Galadriel voiceover. But I must admit the Ukrainian one is really growing on me. I want a copy of that music.
I'm going to try to watch them all again (especially the ones with low viewing figures) and see if my opinions change.

Well, I didn't originally, but it seems I got one into anyway. Oh well. At least they released my children.

Erm, I wasn't aware that we had posession of your children. I'd think I would of noticed if there was some kids tied up somewhere. Razz

And btw, European Chris = Coxtin Wink Not wise to call him a nutter.

It was kind of a joke... see the review.

The line quoted ("Shot in London by nutters with great background music") was what I wrote to sugar the pill when I said I didn't think the video was all that great. I thought the cast would be gratified by that description. After all, the overall effect is fairly nutty.

Anyway, I meant no offence, and I still mean none. I'm assuming from all the nice smileys that none has been taken.

I am...although I'm not sure that's to my credit, and it is a a bit rubbish. But that's sort of the point. David Lynch we ain't.

Marketing videos

People who are still following the ongoing perplex city video drama might be interested to see the results of my marketing research: http://perplexcityvideo.blogspot.com/2006/06/marketing-credits.html

[Aside, I notice that the Ukranian video has shot up the rankings recently, which is rather nice]

I've been avoiding this question up to now, but I might as well come clean.

Your question, along with several others, is answered in the most recent post to the review blog:

Rex,

Thank you for your continued mentions of Vitayemo! - even 'off the wall' publicity is good publicity. Perhaps it does grow on people after all, if searched on google, the video is now the fourth hit for the word 'Vitayemo', at least!

I'm hoping that tomorrow's Oscar ceremony will have a best Ukrainian animation section (even though it's not really an animation). Before I set of a chain of replies, please note that I am using the term 'Oscar ceremony' figuratively, I have no idea what form the announcements of winners etc. will take.

Rex/Chris/you-in-the-corner-over-there:
You said my attempt wasn't as bad as I made out, so I like you! Yours was one of two reviews I've seen for my film (both better than expected).

I don't recall seeing this mentioned anywhere (sorry, but really can't be bothered to search too deeply), but there are also some reviews here on ARGN. It lists mine in the rest of the best. Woohoo!!!! Apologies for hijacking your review thread with other reviews, but I'm rather pleased with that. Congrats to those mentioned! Abridged version:

Quote:
Here are my (completely unofficial) must-see picks:

  • Private Eye - The ARGN Editor's Pick
  • Hitchhikers Guide to Perplex City
  • The Quest for The Cube mini-series - parts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

The rest of the best:

  • Great Perplexations...The Moovie
  • It's Time For
  • Perplex City, Meet South Park
  • A Short Film About Perplex City
  • Difficulty Lethal
