[EMAIL] 6/1 From Sarah (Blog & Masks & Library Help)

I sent this to Sarah on Sun, May 28,
Quote:
Dear Ms. Wyatt,

I read about the theft at the library. That's just terrible! What is
the world coming to?

Well, being of a curious nature; I wanted to see what the masks looked like.
While researching your book, I stumbled upon your blog.
Your words, your creativity, your oh so very frightening dreams; tug
at my heart somehow... in a way of intangible recognition. I can't
seem to put my finger on it, but I feel as though I know you. Have you
ever had that feeling?

Anyway, I hope that you don't mind that I shared your blog URL with a
group of online investigators; helpful souls, if you will; who will,
undoubtedly, be flooding your mailbox with many sincere offers to
help. To them, I add my own....If there is anything I can do to assist
in any way, please do not hesitate to ask.

Sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused.

Sincerely,
Drizabella Juniorini

Her response
Quote:

Dear Drizabella,

Oh, my. To be quite honest I never expected anyone to find the website or
connect it with me. I guess the internet is a much smaller world than I had
thought. How many people do you think you've told? Nobody in Aglaura,
I hope!
The existence of my blog is definitely nothing anyone local to me needs know
about. They think I'm "different" enough already.

But now that's out of the way, thank you very much for the compliment. There
are times when I feel something inside me like a bubble, rising to the
surface,
perhaps to pop, perhaps to sift back down again into my inner self. There are
so many intangibles lately that it's hard to nail one down (not that an
intangible is easy to nail down in the first place). Yes, there are
times when
I feel I should know people or facts, but I don't. Sometimes I have
the oddest
feelings of deja vu. Sometimes it's jamais vu.

In any event, you seem like a friend and I welcome you as such. The
loss of the
masks has deeply affected me. Creating them has been an escape from these
miserable nightmares. I, too, wish you could help me find them.

Sincerely,
Sarah Wyatt

Hi Sarah,
So sorry to hear about the missing artwork.
I would like to help out. Can you provide any photographs of the
missing masks so I and my friends can keep an eye out on eBay or the
local pawn shops?
And is there anything me and my friends can do to fight the Marzanos'
plan to tear down your lovely facility?
Hugs,
Heather

Sarah wrote:
Dear Heather,

Thank you for your letter. I'm sorry to say that I did indeed have a few pictures of the masks in a "Creation Scrapbook," which was displayed along with the masks in the Artists of Aglaura exhibit, but the scrapbook was stolen, too. I think the police would rather not make that fact public in case some tipster calls in - they will be able to sort legitimate information from pranks if the person calling knows the scrapbook is gone too.

I honestly don't know what you could do to help, although I wish you could somehow. Right now the decision lies in the hands of the city council. I just hope that they listen to me rather than the voice of "progress."

Sincerely,
Sarah Wyatt

I wrote her prior the robbery offering my help to save the library. Her answer:

Quote:
Dear Pilar,

It's "Miss" but you can call me "Sarah"!

I am so glad you have found our website. You are so right about
digitalizing books. Not only is it inconvenient to lug a computer out to
the meadow with you so you can read a book after a picnic, but where's the
joy in clicking a mouse button rather than picking up the page, turning
it, and watching the next page be unveiled? Computers are great tools,
but they are not friends like books are.

I wish all you nice people who have been emailing me lately are able to
find some way to save my friends on the library shelves.

Sincerely,
Sarah Wyatt

I had also offered help prior to theft....

Quote:
Your historical places idea was fantastic! I got so excited and thought
certainly it would be the answer to my wishes. However, I asked my friend
Dale about it and he said there was a conscious decision a few years ago
when they did the Library renovations NOT to put the building on the
National Register of Historic places in order to facilitate the permit
process. Apparently it takes a good amount of time to be certified
historic enough to be included on the list, and once you're on there, it's
very hard to get permission to alter the structure in any way.

Ah well. It was a wonderful suggestion, and I feel silly for not having
thought of it myself.

You're very right about the joys of the internet. Lately I've been
getting a slew of supportive and kind emails from people who are
interested in preserving the Library. However, a book on a bright, cold
screen has nothing on holding one in your hands. Anyway, I wish one of
you nice new people will be able to come up with something to help us
persevere.

[EMAIL] Sarah Wyatt: Re: Library Assistance

I finally got an email back from sarah!

Quote:
Dear Sarah,

I would just love to be able to help you with saving your library. As
an avid reader myself, I know from first-hand experience that
libraries are a godsend to readers on a tight budget. Count me in!

-Sherlock Holmes

And she wrote back:

Quote:

Dear Sherlock,

I can tell you're a book lover from your name! Would Mr. Holmes approve
of replacing a well-loved volume of his adventures with bits and pixels?
I can assure you the answer is certainly "NO!" As a librarian, it's
wonderful to hear from someone who's had positive experiences in a
library. My happiest days have been among the stacks, walking down the
aisles, running my fingers lightly over the spines of the books. I do
wish that you and some of the other nice new people who have been emailing
me lately will be able to find some way to save the Library.

Sincerely,
Sarah Wyatt

Sounds to me like we need to start contacting Marzent, since they're the one that will be responsible for tearing down the library?

Either start a dialogue with someone who works there, or try to dig up some dirt for blackmail, to get them to halt demolition of the library.

Well, the plan has to be aproved by the council yet, I think

My reply

I sent;

Quote:
Hi Sarah,

I'm so sorry to hear about the plans to tear down the library! How can they do it? How can they just forget so much history!

If there's anything I can do, please let me know. Is there an email address for anyone on the council that I can contact about the library?

Concerned,
Jenna

I got;
Quote:
Dear Jenna,

"How can they do it?" indeed. To be honest, I haven't a clue. Nor do I
know why anyone would want to tear down a perfectly good library and kill
all the books. Going to the all-digital computer library and downloading
a book to read? Doesn't that sound like something out of a cyberpunk
horror novel?

As you can see, I have as many questions about it as you do.

I don't know any of the councilmembers' email addresses offhand other than
my good friend Dale Sprague's - daleSPLATsynthasia.com (but complaining about
the Library plans to him would be preaching to the choir). I usually try
to confront the council face to face (and often), but that hasn't made a
dent in their resolve. I just wish you could find a way to succeed in
helping the Library stay intact.

Sincerely,
Sarah Wyatt

If Diana doesn't have an email, we can always try Bruce.

Edited to add: As noted in the other Sarah email thread - look closely at her words. She uses "wish" alot!

I sent emails to Sarah both about the library.. then a few hours later, when I heard, about the Masks. I got a response.

Quote:
Dear Andrew,

Thank you so much for your kind words. You're correct - things have not
been splendid for me lately. The loss of the masks was a real gut-punch.
It's uncanny how you say that art is a part of the artist. That's exactly
how I feel as well. They've been borne of pain and love and happiness and
unhappiness, all from the depths of Sarah. Their loss has left six empty
spots inside me.

I wish very hard too that you could do something to help.

Sincerely,
Sarah Wyatt

Im gonna work on ghetting Bruce to support saving the Library. If we can get him on our side, we may be able to dig up dirt on the Marzent

Careful, Dio. She's invoking your name in conjunction with wishing very hard. We must do something to keep her from getting into a position where "the wish" appears.

Part of the reply I posted in the 'book club' thread deserves to be in here:

there hasn't been an actual decision as yet, a lot of powerful people seem
to be interested in tearing her down. I can't tell you how hard I've
wished for someone to help us out. Who knows? I wish all you nice people
who have been emailing recently can find a way to stop the destruction
where I have not.

Do we have Pat Dobbs email address? Since his mom was librarian before Sarah and she would have hated the new plans for the library, maybe we should try an email campaign on Pat. Maybe guilt him out or appeal to his better nature...I think he has one.

You're right Kona, Sarah wishes a lot. She's trying to tell us something.

I don't see a difference from the normal site, so I tried a few other words. Yeah, seems like any word can be substituted for where I have "wish" up above. Perhaps it has to be a certain word? But if it's not wish, I don't know what it would be...

I'v seen that before on websites. Basically you can type sixthofnever/anything and get the home page. I'm not sure exactly how it works but it's just an artifact of the site. Although I am curious about that search field.
