[META] Kick Start? Is there an issue with the Board or is everyone losing interest. I posted a couple messages and seems liek there either have been no responses or very few. And that goes for many of the topics?

Seems like the only time there's any interest, is when there's obvious puzzles to solve. There's only so much [SPEC]ing you can do before you need to [PUZZLE].

Well, alright then, let's set our minds to cracking some of those Metacortex logins while we wait for the next big plot development. Oughta give us something to do instead of poring over minutiae and the ritual flogging of the newbies. I've been working on Beth's Little Boxes and Metacortex passwords since back before we started the hunt for MLO's password. Why did we stop with MLO? Keep at it, crackers!
[edit] And by crackers, I'm by no means referring to any one ethnic group.

So what may I ask, zwingle, are you doing here? What side of the bed did you fall out of? What poor crackwhore turned you down that would give you the grumpy old man attitude of coming in here and giving us the self-righteous sermon of "having a life"?
Anyway we still need passwords for these websites:
www.Murpha.com
www.Lifeandcasualty.com
Someone already posted these websites and nobody responded. What are these out of game websites? They don't seem to be. Cuz if they are I'll shut up. But if they aren't then here's something extra we could be wroking on.

Niobexrev: They are not-yet-in-game sites and we are not meant to go password hunting for them because "officially" we do not know of them (they are not pointed to by any in-game sites, they were found by searching for more domains on the same IP as thenekodas.com).
This was the same for leiphe.net and wongmo.org, these were also discovered BEFORE they were active and they also had password protection, just to keep us from 'peeking' before they were meant to be peeked at.
They will probably come into the game soon... hopefully with the next update...

Well, it seems that we are in the in-between-puzzles period again - today looks to have been rather slow...
So, if certain special people, whom I'm sure we all hold very dear in our hearts and whom we are not supposed to call PMs, would give us something to do on such days, I - and hopefully there will be others to back me up on that - would very much appreciate it.
I propose beginning with Random. Even a wink in his direction would surely put an end to the nightmares I've been having since the first time I attempted to link "gravity's borsch-poo" with Schroedinger's kittie. Any clue to figure out what he's saying, or that he's not saying anything (as seems to be the case with "ignominious") plz!!

Yanka...goodness, yes. Our friend Random has come close to almost giving me nightmares as well. His file extension refers to an encryption software...hah. Someone has a very twisted sense of humor, I guess. If his comments don't mean anything, the, er, people deserve some painful...er, yeah, I'll stop. Anyway, I second the motion.
But at least we have the cheering knowledge that the bang o' hackers don't like him either! Hah, "Shut up already, Random!" Hee!

Depending on how interesting you make your subject, you can easily get 150 views.. even the Mr. T thread got 100 views so far and it was posted less than 6 hours ago.. with an interesting topic you can easily get 600 views..
Keep in mind that for every person who actively posts on these boards, there are 9 people lurking in the background.. just trying to catch up with the puzzles or enjoy the show..
As for periods of inactivity between puzzles, they are really needed for people who need to catch up. I travelled for 5 days, and when I came back the boards were quiet because there was no new puzzle, so I had a chance to catch up.
Although the story IS a bit slow at the moment.. which either means they will increase the pace new the end.. or that this is a 6 month ARG and we are really just at the first step..

OK, about Random and his posts.
From back in my days as a l337 newsgroup person (yeah, right), I recall seeing similar patterns of words, things that may grammatically make sense but really are just random assortments of words. There is some kind of code here that has a decoder, and I used to have it, but now I cannot seem to find it anywhere on the web.
Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Well there's this
but I don't know if it's any good for what we're looking for

Well, I'll admit to being one of the shmos that was stuck for a couple days, torn between trying to learn Tarot and letting someone else do it before we realised that one was just a stock picture in the public domain... So obviously Random worries me.
What worries me about Random is that we could literally spend days, weeks even of solid effort tearing her posts apart (I've decided Random has to be a woman, simply because we men arent that devious... <----- JOKE!!! No flames, please! ) and still not make any sense of anything because we don't know the cypher... and like Yanka said, even that could well be... well... Random. Which is the joy of even simple cypher systems with word/letter substitution or hiding.
Yes, someone could forseeably write a bit of code to do this for us. Not me. I hate programming (it's the smell...). Yes, we could take whole Random messages and dump them into Anagram engines... and spend years reading through the results.
Again, we can't really just say "oh, too hard, not doing this one"... but ohhh, the pain.
I do quite like quiet days though. It's like high summer on a really hot day, when you can almost taste the electricity in the air before a thunderstorm just blows in outta nowhere. But without the summer. Or the heat. No thunderstorm either...
