Upon going there and playing the webcast I noticed that the my CPU usage was being maxed out. Even when the broadcast ended and I closed out of the browser, it was still maxed out by "iexplore.exe" which I had to then "end task" on. What in the world are they doing to my computer at sublymonal.com? Are we sure this is a safe site?

At any rate, at the end of the podcast he mentioned an interview with someone at THF that he claims resulted in the government taking away a military contract from them. I foung that wierd because I thought Hanso deliberately pulled away from doing stuff for the military back in the 70s. Anyways, he mentioned...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
how they contracted out to create an EMP blast designed to knock out stuff in space (I'm not buying the moon, but that might be a code for something). Well, is it possible that the apparent explosion that occured near the end of the season finale of LOST was an EMP blast? And was a similar, but much smaller, EMP blast the reason why the plane went down?

I understand the need for ABC to offset some of the substantial development costs of this endeavor by bringing on corporate sponsors, but as a long time ARG player (one of the first handful of players of A.I.'s The Beast) I gotta say that I lost a lot of interest in this thing after this update.

The game is just starting to feel a bit contrived and forced. While there's been a touch of difficultly, the vast majority of the clues we have been given have been given in really obvious ways, and now they're not only being given to us in obvious ways but they're tied into huge amounts of advertisements.

I mean, the sublymonal.com screen just flashes codes at you. The whole survivor guilt thing. The persephone URL in the PDF. With the exception of a few things here (still don't know what's up with the pic at hole2), there's not a lot of real "puzzles" here. It's all style and not a lot of substance, although they certainly excel at style.

I think back to Eliza's Tearoom in The Beast and how difficult and unique some of those puzzles were and how much teamwork was involved in solving them ("Toad in the hole" anyone?) and then I look at this and think, "Seriously?"

Of course maybe there's more to sublymonal that hasn't been found yet, but even so, the amount of blatant corporate sponsorship is kind of removing me from the experience. Again, this game is costing them millions (this is California, we're talking about the web dev vendor they've got working on it, plus the payroll for their employees focusing on the project, ad buys, etc.) so corporate sponsorship is the way to go. But the Jeep/Chrysler thing was cleverly integerated. The Sprite thing most certainly was not.

I'm still interested to see where it all goes, just because I'm curious, but I wasn't interested in digging through sublymonal.com at all, I think I'll just fall back into observer mode for a while and see where things go.

You might enjoy the 4 pages of rants in the "[META] ! Sprite !" thread.

I won't move your post, as you do have more to say, but if it's "meta" about the game as a game, the discussion itself takes us out of the Experience. I only mention it to request that further posts in this thread continue to discuss "clues" in the subLYMONal site itself, and hope this thread doesn't derail.

Namaste.

Sublymonal Updated -

Look closely for the "sublymonal" entry codes to get in.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I saw, on first glance, "belly" and "listen". They bring you to some downloadable ads, and a Talib Kweli audio site.

I think there's another code...I'm going back in to look further.

(moderator here, moved this post from out of the META thread, which is for discussing the advertising nature outside the game. This thread is for discussing the clues within the game universe -- catherwood)

Let me save you the trouble. As reported on the blog for The Lost Experience Clues (a fan site):

This list is reprinted without express permission but with fond appreciation for the resources put into it.

Dont know if this says anything, though. it looks like there's writing on it, but I can't tell

The frog says "code: tongue" so it's nothing new. The only way that I could read it was on an HDTV.

Probably trouting, but didn't see any posts on it.

Sublymonal is now linked to wikipedia and does some type of sound overlay. Type in some words that are common and see whwat happens.
